Greetings All
Today I have been mostly spraying body panels ..... did the 2 pack primer yesterday, and today I sprayed the top coat on the insides of the panels (for corrosion protection only as it won't be seen) .... I felt a bit 'under compressored' for big areas of paint .... I mostly spray smaller stuff like bike bits so I don't want to shell out on a big compressor if possible .... I have a pal with another compressor like mine and my question is:
Has anyone tried using two smaller compressors joined with a T-piece to increase the cfm and capacity of the tankage (a 'virtual' big compressor) .... by 'bush logic' there should be no increase in pressure if they're set the same but there should be an improvement in the ability to sustain pressure and flow for longer.
I have yet to fit the internally painted panels back on the frame and do the final primping .... but would like to be more confident of consistent spraying when it comes to the stuff that shows.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Cheers
K
Ps .... it's a VERY red, red 🙂

It should work , it is just a multi cylinder compressor but with 2 motors. But I wonder about pulsation effects as they won't be in phase unless you go via common bulk tank. I would guess non return valves would be a good idea.
I have never seen it done though and as with any compressed gas please start with safety in mind and at a low pressure.

Did the same in the 1970's, with Cellulose ! at least he's covered the neighbours car to stop overspray

I used two compressors, one to feed the gun and one for my air fed mask when using 2K paint.
The compressor feeding my mask was well away from the painting area.
Now I have one big 18 cfm compressor which is probably the largest you can run on single phase.

It’ll work fine but watch for overloading the electrical circuit and certainly don’t plug them both into an extension cable. One compressor will still do most of the work as the pressure switches won’t be set exactly the same, the second one will only kick in when the first one can’t keep up. You can safely alter the pressure switch with the spring tensioner inside the switch cover. There will be no increase in pressure, just more flow, your regulator will stabilise the output pressure to the gun.

Thanks for the advice everyone ... I was fairly sure it would work but there was enough potential scope for disaster if I was missing something to make me want reassurance 🙂
I'm hoping to have the majority of it sprayed during the next week.

Best to have as largest reservoir tank as possible, to stop the air pulsing out of the gun.
