Pulse cranking amps is for all intent and purpose hot cranking amps, available for the the short time it (should) take to start the car. Although it doesn't have an official definition it's more akin to everyday use than CCA.
I still maintain amp hour battery capacity is the more important parameter as it's that which errodes with battery ageing. Better to have spare capacity therefore for longevity, as without an adequate amount the average Mog used lightly over the winter won't start if there is not enough to support the required cranking amps. Richard, I am with you on this issue. Better to have more and perhaps not use it, than to have less and need more.

I now that the big problem for motorcycle batteries is, because of their smaller size and the need for cranking amps, the lead plates are thinner, which is why they do not last as long

The largest lead acid battery I have seen was a redwood water tank , tar lined, filled with an and water H2S04 solution and had the plates lowered into it by a chainfall above the tank. The plates were serviced/inspected annually for degradation and replaced as necessary. That battery was in use from about 1910 to 1979 and was retired because it was considered to dangerous. There was no vibration associated with that battery and it could have lasted forever. Our 3 wheelers vibrate considerably, possible more than a softly suspended Harley and the idea of using AGM Lithium Ion batteries makes sense.

Had not heard of lead/acid batteries lasting that long but I do know that Nickel Iron ones do without the regular maintenance you mention (shades of Triggers broom ). Their performance is generally poor but robustness, low maintenance and longevity are exceptional due to lack of plate shedding as they use an alkaline electrolyte. I understand 80 year old versions are still in use and they have a minimum of 10 year warranty from new. Edison patented them in the US and they were used in the first battery electric cars around WW1. The technology is undergoing something of a revival with the current interest in renewable energy given the low cost when spread over their exceptional life.

The reason the redwood tank battery lasted that long ast it was maybe 20’ in diameter and was designed to have every component part serviceable.
The nickle iron batteries are new to me and interesting, except they must be very heavy.

LightSpeed what was the redwood battery used for? I've had a Varta battery last over 13 years in a vintage car. Not exactly a benign environment with vibrations & no voltage control.

The battery was used in a telephone switching office. The phone system her in the USA operated on DC from the beginning, 96 volts comes to mind, and it operated all the washing machine like motors that turned a long camshaft that controlled the relays that routed the calls.
The tank was open topped and sitting in a room dedicated to that corrosive environment. When I worked for the company they eased large banks of 2 VDC high amperage lead acid cells all daisy chained together.
