I had header wrap that quickly fell apart and made a mess of the pipes that was difficult to polish out when I removed it.
My advise is don't bother with it, its better to get rid of the heat from the pipes as soon as possible as they run very hot and you haven't got to worry about under bonnet temperature like on a normal car, doubt there would be any noticeable performance gain either. I tend to agree. I probably wrapped both pipes about 3 times before I finally gave up. When you use the car a lot it gets wet and then hot and then wet and then blown about in hurricane force winds. It eventually falls apart again and again. What it does do is wreck the shine on the pipes though, which for me was actually what I wanted as I prefer the slightly vintage rat look. FWIW, I've never had indicator melting issues without wrap....

I was originally planning on wrapping my pipes then inquired about ceramic coating. I went that way for $160 for both back to the flexible union. Much happier with the result. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/06/07/IMG_0085.th.jpg)

Thanks everyone - I will wrap again as its a cheap option and I actually like the security that it won't melt the indicator pod.

Tried various wraps with none to moderate success. The fiberglass wraps will die soonest. They don't hold up to weather, wetness and wind. The rock wool/mineral wool do ok but... They were all meant for an enclosed engine compartment to control heat. I gave up. I have one stock stainless header left and the other was the matt black version. After over 50,000 miles the stainless looks like the black header anyway. They both have marks on them from the wraps that were. Oh well
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Lance, that ceramic looks beautiful! I was surprised how reasonably priced the ceramic coating is (per one UK supplier's website anyway). Probably not much compared to the usual upgrades of exhausts, air filters, etc etc
