and of the three I personally think the last is most appropriate?

This is something that winds me up. So many people say that correct spelling, punctuation and grammar is unnecessary. Yet, we live in a world where large numbers of people believe they will make their fortunes online. If you are selling anywhere, including online, the words you use (especially written words) form part of the sales contract. Grammatical and spelling errors increase ambiguity. Ambiguity in sales contracts can be very expensive.

Absolutely. It's important to know your dermot otherwise everyone will know you're dermot. There's a big difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Paul, a forward slash indicates a code end. You should have written:

This is something that winds me up...
[/rant]

wink

Should be referred to as a slash when writing English language but a forward slash in computer speak, probably due to our American cousins?

Every TV announcer gets it wrong.

This is something that really winds me up, (well, not really).

You chaps are going to pop a fuse shortly.

As I expected the software companies were using English as a language selection.
They would offer US English in some cases as well as British English or UK English.

I am now finding that the only option in the selection is English, which is in fact American,
There is no option for a UK character set with £ etc.

On asking one vendor he said that the effort required to maintain two copies of the same language with such a small difference was not commercially viable.

Fun times ahead.
Don't worry, Boris will fix it for us by adopting the US$ as our currency.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I am impressed that the translate engine deepl differs between US and UK style of English language.

My current rant is the Cadbury ad "A glass and a half in everyone" Where it used to be "A glass and a half in every one" referring to the milk in a bar.
