Has anyone sourced a replacement water pump for a Rover engined 3.9 +8 recently? Mine is a 1990 car. I understand they are short-nosed units, apparently also fitted to Triumph TR7 V8's. Is there a more mainstream replacement? Thanks.

Not since 1991. Even then some replacements were a bit iffy. The impeller on the Unipart pump I purchased was smaller, and had much less of an interference fit in the housing than the original.

So be careful because the outlet pipes also vary according to fit.

Some of the bolts are long so you may need to move the radiator, and they sit in water, so expect some tightness. BL used a glue chemical on the threads which was supposed to stop corrosion.

You could consider having the original rebuilt. Mine sat in the loft for years. I don't even remember what happened to it.

I happened to speak to Terry Foxen at G.E.E yesterday, about one for a 4.0 Serpentine engine. He has every type in stock- except the serpentine!

I purchased one from Rimmer some time ago STC4378P1 , they also list the LR item STC4378 (Assuming your Plus 8 has a serpentine belt )
A few weeks ago I managed to pick up another new one for £12 off of Facebook marketplace, couldn't resist it. They had bought it as a replacement but never got around to fitting it.
