I have a Mini Clubman from new fitted with 18" 225 Pirelli P7's. I do a lot of motorway driving and the rear tyres lasted 40,000 miles and still had 4mm of tread however my eagle eyed local garage spotted uneven wear which he said was the carcase distorting. You could hardly tell though and he said it wasnt an MOT fail but I changed it anyway.

The P7's have been excellent and although they are runflats the ride and noise is good too.

We had a puncture in Mrs F's 2016 Mini Clubman 2 years ago (just over 3 years old) and took it to be repaired. The tyre place found cracks in the treaded area. When we checked, both rear tyres were affected and soon replaced.

( I know I know, drive it more) But my question is, the tyre's are in good shape and hardly worn, but they are at least 20 years old by now. How long should they go before being replaced?

Yes change them now. Not only for your safety also for the improvement in ride, comfort and peace of mind.

CalMog - we were in a similar situation. Please check the link. You will be amazed by the improvements in ride and steering, not to mention the safety.

That is the most irresponsible advise I have seen especially on 20 year old tyres.
