These are the images from the Morgan 3 Wheeler Parts Book.

Question - shouldn't the two conical parts (4 & 5) go either side of the rose joint?
Why would they be made this way if only to stack on top of each other?

Is this as a mistake - views?

I'll vote for a mistake...either that or I've had mine assembled wrong for about 8 years, which is always possible. 🤔

To be fair, it’s just an illustration of the parts to identify their corresponding part numbers. The image is from the parts book not installation instructions or an assembly manual.

To remain critical, one of the half nuts (#7) is not in correct assembly location either.

Actually it is unlikely to be mistake. When Bill was making the Empire kits, now sold by Krazy Horse, he also designed something similar, as the Rose Joint needs to have free movement in all directions to stop it binding at the limits of travel.

Does this sound feasible?

Items 4 and 5 should go either side of the rose joint item 3, picture below. Any other way you will not get the correct angle of dangle.

I think the exploded view is probably correct when we consider the perspective we’re viewing it from. Agree though, it is confusing.

Rog is correct and the taper will allow the full movement PaulJ mentions

Rog is of course correct, unfortunately we have seen 2 cars (1xRHD, 1xLHD) with it fitted as per the diagram, i.e. rose joint end to top. This means that on full suspension droop, the track rod end hits the upper bracket and bends the corner of the bracket.....
Easily moved if not as per Rog's picture but don't forget tracking would need to be adjusted as well.

I asked the question, as at a recent meet of cars there were a mixture of assembly variations.
Given there is no manual or any assembly instructions a lot of people use the parts book and have got it wrong!

Happy that we can clarify that the parts book is wrong and Rog G's photograph is correct

I always regarded a precautionary pee bottle under the seat in case one was caught short in a traffic jam was a "comfort kit".
