Hi Steven,

you may try to pm "guenter1" here - he picked up his "race-packed" +4SS in September...

It doesn´t matter how fast it becomes, but how it becomes fast. laugh2

Hope you enjoy the test drive, I am pleased with my ss but have only had it for 1 week (300 miles)so can not comment on any problems as yet, previosly had aero 8 and + 4 sport but this is different again, it may be an aquired taste I can imagine some people not liking the drive, be interested to know how you get on.

Is it different as in 'more racy engine'?

I'm testing a +4SS on Saturday morning. Looking to replace my 2002 4/4 that I've fitted with throttle bodies etc.

Wanting a car that will be fun on track days but also civilised and tractable enough for touring and local work.

My 4/4 is great fun but it meeds to be revved and since it has a S/S manifold, sports cat and silencer - all from Mog Sport - it gets a bit frantic.

Had a faulty leaking radiator after 150miles which was dealt with very well by the factory. Hot idle was an issue (though not with the current weather) which again factory are aware of but keeping an eye on that for the moment. Still "running in" mine. Have close to 700 miles on now and can definately say it feels looser and more responsive now than when I first had it. I'm looking forward to exploring the upper rev range after its first service :-).

Nick.

Is it reliable - it is a well proven Mazda 2.0 engine... so yes, why would it not be? The state of tune is not harsh and therefore, reliability isn't an issue. There was a lot of talk that Aero Racing should have got more power from the 2.0 but I know reliability and drive-ability were their primary concern (not massive BHP figures).

Mine is still new out of the box but the demo car had many miles under its wheels and quite a few race outings. It drove beautifully and what I have noticed on both the MMC car and my own is the increased torque. The Morgan Plus 4 SuperSports pulls like a freight train from very low RPMs and doesn't give up (pulling all the way to redline (haven't done this on mine but I see no reason to believe it won't, post break in, because it pulls all the way to 5,500 and wants you to keep going).

The engine also is so willing to rev and doesn't ever feel sluggish or slow to pick up. In my few times behind the wheel of other modern Trads, I have found he engines often needed to be rung out, or kept in the power band, to feel rapid but the Plus 4SS does not - it feels always on, without being a pain to drive in traffic, or sedately, when you simply don't want to, or can't, go fast.

A superb little car.

Ah! The joys of a variable cam engine. I wish I could get one in the Plus 4.

I had a quick drive in a +4 SS last Sunday .. first time I have ever driven a Morgan.

Loved it. Modern enough to thrill like an older car, without too many compromises of a vintage car.

Seems expensive at 50k.

And apparently they won't build you one with a non black leather interior.

what happened to personalisation?

It is a limited edition and therefore, Morgan only want to offer it in a specific way.

If you want to personalise a Morgan, the 4/4 or a Plus 4 is the route to go. The SuperSports has been created to honour Chris Lawrence's class winning LeMans entry and therefore the specification is tied into the heritage, retro appeal and period details.

A few of the SSs have gone to people within MMC and even they've kept to the build spec, rather than chose an individual colour exterior or interior.
