I have a 1986 Plus 4, LHD, and am planning to replace the horn/dim/turnsignal column switch. The replacement is a Lucas SQB119, which is quite easily available. Does anyone know whether the this switch can be used on LHD cars like mine?

Without having any deep knowledge of the 1986 versions, I doubt there is both a RDH and a LHD version. I suppose the steering wheel column with all it's connections is the same on both cars, just moved to the other side. If you google Lucas SQB119, you see a lot from different retailers, and none of them states that there is a RHD and LHD option. So I guess it would be all right, but as I said - no personal knowledge of that year, and my car from 2004 uses a different stalk. No RDH or LDH there, though.

I've now ordered the Lucas SQB119 from Bowers in the UK. Here's a note I've just received from a local person who is familiar with British electrics. I had sent him a photo showing the stalk for the horn/dim/signals switch located on the right hand side of the steering colum of my LHD 1986 Plus 4. Regarding his P.S., I had mentioned to him that the switch doesn't return to neutral without some jiggling after moving the stalk to signal a right hand turn.

"First thing I noticed from your photo is that your column switch is on the right side of the steering column. That is very odd (to me). On any left-hand drive Little British Car I have seen, this switch is always on the left side of the column.
That indicates to me that your SBQ119 column switch is actually for right hand drive cars. I googled your switch, and found an E-Bay posting. Their list of vehicles that use this particular switch includes only R.H.D. British-market cars.
What is the difference? The only thing I can think of, is if it were on the other side of the column, the horn symbol would be upside down. Lucas must have made separate horn buttons for LHD and RHD switches.
To make this long story short, I think you are safe to order this switch. P.S. You might want to inspect the metal cam (usually a spring clip), that cancels the turn signals, on your steering column. Sometimes they get bumped out of whack."

Far be it for me to contradict anyone, but on my 1994 plus 4 (RHD) the switch is on the right hand side too. My car’s highly original so it must have been like from new
