What is the general opinion. Is it worth doing the SSL suspension upgrade to the Aero series 4 and is it an easy job; does one have to take the wings off. Does it make the ride a little softer and does it affect the road holding. Thanks in advance. Simon

Yes it is worth it.
The wings and cowl have to come off to get to the inboard coilover units.
I'd say that the ride is a bit more compliant, but not softer and the roadholding is definitely better because the back and front ends are working in harmony.

It is the sort of ride/handling combination that befits a fast grand touring car and makes the car a real mile muncher that can also hold its own on a track.

Having read all the comments I've ordered the kits for my 2007 Series III which is having its annual service at Brands Hatch Morgans in about three weeks time and they are supplying and fitting the kit whilst its in for the service. It'll be just in time for my Goodwood track day at the end of June! The general view from the manufacturer of the kit and BHM is that the overall ride is improved, particularly for deal with the fantastic road surfaces we all have to deal with in the UK (assuming its the same for everyone as it is here on the Kent / Surrey / Sussex border). I'll give some more feedback once I've had the new suspension for a few weeks.

Just got the car back from BHM with the SSL kit and immediately it feels slightly more compliant whilst retaining / even improving the pointy feeling to the front end. Very ear days yet so I'll add some further views following my next few runs out which also include a day at Goodwood at the end of June. Here's the Aero just outside BHM before the service and suspension upgrade.

Hi Peter, as soon as the weather is a little better and I get some more useful miles done I'll comment further - keeping my weather fingers crossed Monday 28th June as I have a track day booked at Goodwood.

I managed to get two 1 hour runs over the weekend and the new SSL suspension definitely adds a degree of suppleness to the ride and I feel definitely improves on the already fantastically pointy front-end, just adding a little more feel on initial turn in.

Had a great day at Goodwood yesterday and after lots of rain overnight on Sunday the track dried very quickly on Monday and by 10:00/10:30 was completely dry other than for a single off-line puddle between Madgwick and Fordwater which seems to resist the temperature and the sun all day. The SSL suspension does add a little suppleness to the ride of the car so on the way down from Surrey in to the Sussex the quality road surfaces we are blessed with in the UK don't have such a harsh effect on the cabin. The small amount of additional body movement through corners does seem to give the car an even better feel on the limit as well as making the front a tiny bit more pointy. Had plenty of track time with only 7 cars out each session. Top speed on the Lavant Straight was an indicated circa 135mph and 2nd gear enabled some lovely controllable power-slides from the chicane on to the pit straight. As usual the Aero seemed to attract a lot of attention and photo opportunities for those spectating as well as comments about the superb noise delivered on full power past the pits in 3rd and 4th - I do adore those side exit exhausts!
