Bob, I've read about that too. The socket is there. I've tried a cheap ELM327-adapter but that didn't work. Was told to get a more capable adapter (done) and use it with a Forscan compatible app. I'll be able to try it tomorrow and I'll give you an update late afternoon. All I want for the moment is a way to extract error codes... If that doesn't work, how does Escort Zetec owners do it?

Tried but no joy.. Talked to the Morgan garage again and they confirmed that my ECU is tricky to 'brake' into. Probably not a job for a layman.. Sending it to my savvy friend. Not giving up.. yet...

Latest news! The other day I got the message that nothing has yet been done to my original ECU. Midsummer is almost here and I just can't wait any longer to drive my Morgan. Decided to try the Escort ECU with it's immobilizer transponder in the key... Battery connected, Power switch on and led blinking happily. Ignition on, everything normal. Starter engage normally and engine fires... BUT stalls after revving to 2500 rpm. Same a second and a third time and same as with the original ECU. Conclusion: The original ECU is possibly or even probably not the cause of my problem... which I think is good 🤔 Since the TPS wasn't connected to the loom when I 'worked' on the car I will try the nearest object to it.. the Idle Control Valve. I just happened to buy a spare one ten years ago as a future project to come to terms with the 'high revs hang'-issue. Tomorrow I will replace the one that came with the car (and which I've cleaned and tested successfully). I'll give you an update tomorrow... either way..

Not sure if this will help you but we had a similar issue with a clubsport we race. We'd got to the stage where the only thing left was the ECU But turns out it was problem with one of the throttle bodies.

Interesting asbojohn... I now have two ECUs producing the same symptoms. It could possibly also turn out to be something other than the ECU (..is that actually English...?? )

Well the good news is that the Escort ecu works in a Morgan! I do admire your patience I have zero patience and would have ‘bitten the bullet’ a long time ago Is there any chance that you might have say, taken out the small 3 amp fuse suppling pin.1 of the ecu? (the ecu would still get a supply from the main 20 amp fuse) Did you ever track down the “keep awake fuse”? You could disconnect the ecu and put your meter on pin.1 in the flying connector to see if you have power there (with iginition off). Something to try perhaps?

Does it stall with the throttle closed or also if you keep the throttle open slightly.
In other words, if you have a faulty ICV or the control to it, then no air is getting into the engine .
If you keep the throttle slightly open you are simulating an opening of the ICV.
Try to "catch" the stalling engine by opening the throttle slightly.
Ignore this if you've already tried that.

Roger: I haven't found any 3 amp fuse but I have a 15 amp in the back above the battery; I suppose that could be the 'keep awake' fuse. I'll try to check pin one in the connector. All fuses I have found are ok.
Bob: I can catch it with the throttle but it doesn't like it. Perhaps a faulty ICV could return the wrong voltages to the ECU giving it 'mixed messages' from the TPS, the ICV and the Lambda sond. There is also the choke adding to the mix... Could be quite confusing I guess..

So, if you sit there with the throttle open slightly, the engine will keep running but if you take your foot off the throttle it will stall???
