After some changes of the air filter over 5 years the plastic threads are no longer too good. Does anyone know in which car this airbox was installed originally? When I google Ford air boxes they all look a bit different.

Did you get an answer to this query? I note is was some time ago now. I've just experienced the same problem on my 2016 4/4 air box, when fitting a new ITG filter. Appear to have fixed it by using small cable ties to give the bots something to key on to. So far so good, and only costs a few pennies

This is the factory airbox that was fitted to my Sigma engine. It looks like a standard Ford Focus airbox ? ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2021/06/28/IMG_4860.jpg)

Why oh why do manufacturers insist on using plastic as an engineering material?

John V6 - Thanks for getting the pictures to display. I've been searching for the last 30 minutes to see how to do it. At the same time managed to update my Avatar, so learnt something on the way

Thank you for your post, David. This is a very good idea! I got myself screws and nuts with self-locking thread. It's a little more effort when changing filters because I have to hold the nut with the ratchet while unscrewing, but it works as well.

I also thought of thread repair inserts, Bollhoff do a large range, at about 20p per insert.
I was a little surprised that the cable ties worked so well.

With FORD part-numbers I‘ve got very special expierence with German Ford dealers… But I would think about a try to glue some metric threat rivets in.
