We have had a p6 for almost a year with 15 years of previous V6. Had quite a few probs with overseer unit ( now fixed had to go back to MMC) 2 windscreens cracked awaiting second replacement and MMC registered the car initially with the engine details of a V6 3.7 Roadster now correct V5 reissued. Managed to fit a SSL suspension upgrade in somewhere along the line. ( makes a difference) Not used our windscreen wipers much don’t drive it in the wet if can help it, but on recent Mog club trip noticed they were noisy by the time we came back ( getting a second cracked screen on the way!) stopped working completely may have switched engine off before switched wipers off? Can hear motor trying to work or electrics trying to engage but wipers not working at all. Booked in to replace screen as peripheral spit from passenger side about 12 cm/ have wipers looked at and first year annual service but our dealership has a backlog of work and next slot mid August 21. Has anyone had similar experience with wipers on a P6 ( the manual says not to switch engine off before you switch wipers off but easy to do and not certain if the problem), or does anyone know a simple explanation/ fix? You have to remove the dash to change the screen and or to get at wiper motor! Kind regards Rob P6

Rob, You might get more answers posting in the PlusSix / CX platform section, rather than the Welcome section Assuming you are not talking about a Rover P6 that is! ) Welcome to TalkMorgan,

Thanks Graham, I thought I’d try to combine some new boy background info and a query ( still trying to work out how the platform functions ), but will explore plus 6 /cox platform as suggested and I’m also old enough to know what a Rover P6 is or was. Regards RobP6

Try the fuse. Mine (+8) regularly blows if wipers get stuck or engine switched off/back on whilst wiper switch is on.

Thanks, I tried / thought about that one, the fuse box on a plus six is under the passenger footwell , interestingly there are some labelling errors with the codes which is by the by but when you switch the wipers on you can hear either something trying to engage or the motor but no movement, so I presumed the fuse could not be blown? When I had my Plus 6 (rejected and returned to the factory after spending 2 blocks of 3 weeks back at the factory with them attempting to sort out the faults with out success) it was found that one of the many points water was entering the car was through the wiper spindles as they had not been secured during manufacture.

Turned out the motor had worked loose or. It had not been fitted properly in first place and the splints on motor and linkage had ground away to the point of no longer engaging - replaced both parts under warranty also required new seal in hood as come adrift and ruckled - again done under warranty. Had clear plex film fitted to help prevent further screen replacements! Watch this space! RobP6
