On the road again drive

'New' lambdasond in place... not really any improvement.. technically.
But since I've analysed it to be an air/fuel mixture problem I came to the conclusion that I should stick to that and investigate other possible reasons, cracks, air leaks and such... The car had been stationary for a while before I started fiddling with the TPS and here comes the confusing part:
As far as I can remember oldgit the engine ran ok before I shorted the TPS cables but not afterwards. To me that would suggest that I caused some sort of electronic damage. But now I'm not so sure... after checking all cables and connectors I checked rubber tubing again... and found the remains of a mouse dinner!! The tube just came loose when I touched it but looked ok before.
I fixed it and the engine runs beautifully joy

Now I'm not sure if that was actually the main problem or if it was slowly developing during this agonizing period.
I will probably have to put everything (else) back the way they were before I can let this go... just to ease my mind. Thank you all for your support.
cheers

That's very good news Lecat so let's hope that is the end game for this problem.

It's been great following your diagnostic journey.

Which tube did the mice nibble?

The tube enters the intake manifold via a 90 deg kink from the right side and comes from a steel tube coming from the other side of the engine. Slightly less than half an inch outer diameter..

Sounds like the crankcase PCV so you might have been been sucking air into the manifold.

Yes, you're right Bob.

Mixed messages the ECU had to deal with:
- Throttle signal 'closed'
- ICV 'open'
- Air Flow Sensor signal 'Low Mass Air Flow'
- Lots if air - Lambda detecting to much oxygen - probably ordering rich mixture

..could be at bit too much I guess... thinking
