My nephew has just bought a 1949 Triumph Roadster. The car has the most comprehensive history I've ever seen and I doubt it could be matched. There is every tax disc and MOT certificate. A record of every journey taken and every gallon of petrol purchased.

The story starts when the original owner was shortlisting his choice of a potential new car purchase. He came down to Triumph Roadster, SInger Roadster and Morgan. He chose the Triumph because it had the most luggage space and he intended to tour in Europe.

He certainly did tour and recorded his adventures in great detail, letters from the British Embassy advising about overseas travel, a breakdown in Istanbul requiring parts to be shipped out and so on. He kept the car for over forty years before gifting it to a friend who subsequently sold it at auction to the recent owners some 22 years ago.

The Morgan angle includes correspondence from the factory and a 1949 sales brochure which is seen below. There is so much history that it fills a suitcase - the owners original monogrammed suitcase of course.

The car has never been restored although it has had it's fair share of repairs and renewals including a full engine from "Stanpart". The spares arm of Standard/Triumph.

A work colleague had one in the early 70's. Remember riding back from the pub in the dickie seat.

I'll get some current pictures from my nephew. Meanwhile here's a period one and a magazine article from the 1980's. The amount of paperwork with the car is amazing.
