Pity. Soon after the R380 first came out, some bright soul (at Land Rover?) commissioned a run of solid burl walnut (matching Morgan dashes by coincidence) gear knobs with the correct shift pattern. The MMC Parts department were able to grab some and my mates there, at the time, alerted me. These knobs came in a satin lined box..quite lovely. 50 quid in 1999.
I imagine that they come up on ebay if one is patient.

P.S. Your R380 will have to be rebuilt (there are swap services) at some point. All the pre-1999s have minor, but eventually sad, faults. But the rebuild kit takes care of it al. You can do it now or wait until it is needed. Speak with Dave Ashcroft of Ashcroft Transmissions. He and his father have been THE major rebuilder and suppliers for these gearboxes (and LT77s) for decades..none better. They do not like dealing with 2x4s....but I have winning ways on occasion.
