Having owned a +4 for 14 months without actually seeing another Morgan on the road (Foxterrier doesn't count as he lives 2 doors away) I actually saw 2 today, had to go to Bletchley Park for work & came back via Allon Whites emporium, not sure if I can expense the nearly 200 miles I did Luton to Bletchley & back.

Out before 6am this morning, into the empty rural roads around Retford and Gainsborough. Hardly a car on the road. Just over 70 miles. Back home at 8.15. Mowed the lawns, then breakfast at 10.

I know I go on about this, but if you don't ever do a "morning chorus" run out, you are missing an absolute treat.

Dave W... How right you are... smile thumbs

Thanks to Mossy from NZ ( BIG thumbs up Brian) I took delivery of the dead cat yesterday in the hope it would kill the wind noise in my attempts to capture a vid or two on my GoPro while driving the old +8 over my favourite local roads..

I did a couple of quick test runs last night and was quite amazed at the difference in the sound quality, job done the plan was then to be up before the sun on Sat morning and be ready to rock... or something slightly less energetic perhaps..(-:

The one road I really hoped to capture on vid is one that in more fortunate times which many a tour bus frequents, and given the number of twists and turns on this road it would not be unusual to find such a bus taking up much of "your" side of the road spoiling your planned exit from the tight bend ahead. Another hazard can be the tourist drivers enjoying the scenery and not concentrating on what is a very tricky road, and last of all, the cyclists, one needs to be well aware of their presence on a road where giving them a wide berth can be very complicated. Now that you know much that must be considered, you can perhaps appreciate why I choose to be on the road at or around dawn, which in truth is my norm to enjoy this road and others before we were all locked down.

Woke this morning to a fair degree of mist, so with fingers crossed thought to hang off a bit to make for a more scenic drive and to try to avoid the lens misting. On the road, I could not believe my luck on rounding the corner at the Queens View (one of many) when the scene opened up to reveal the hills and forests in the distant Trossachs in all their glory..WOW..! I pulled into the car park there and fired up the GoPro and down the road we went...Jeez, what a wonderful mix of scene, road, man and Morgan, what`s more to want, could not have enjoyed it more in a Ferrari, which as coincidence would have it, I met coming the other way, he cocooned in his tin, top me out in the early morning warm(ish)fresh air, which by the sounds of the exhaust notes, the old +8 was likewise enjoying breathing in large quantities... (-:

Yeah operating the GoPro can be a bit of a fiddle more so when encased in the mount I bought to fit it atop the windscreen, thus fouled up the set-up for one stretch of road, but as luck would have it I did manage to capture the all important few miles, which was the whole reason I had bought the Go Pro, lest there comes a time when I may no longer be able to enjoy the old Mog, I can at least re-live the memories.... assuming I might still have one such myself..(-:

The vid..? Well it turned out better than expected, given the low sun which ever makes driving difficult when driving into it, then into the almost pitch black of the shade provided by roadside trees. It seems those little cameras make a wonderful job of averaging things out in their bid to capture the scene, so much so that one can grab a frame and create a pretty fair JPG, one such I hope I copied successfully below... fingers crossed.

I managed most of the run with a p-up truck trying to catch up on the few straights,..sigh! Either that or he just wanted to watch the Mog progressing...less than ideal should a deer appear on the road ahead just round the next bend....but as I picked out another distant car ahead, I slowed up, and pulled in, sat long enough to let both vehicles disappear of into the distance before journeying on to the point where I could turn around and do it all again in the opposite direction, the sun being more prominent in that direction, but at least the road was traffic free the whole way.. (-:

Yeah what a morning, one to keep in the memory banks for less than ideal days to help remember how good life can be... Home in time for for breakfast

No, you can't beat a lovely January sunset run over Dartmoor and back... I always prefer evening runs.

There is a place for both ends of the day, but having retired 6 years ago the 0500 get ups are a thing of history nowadays happy3 and having time to smell the roses is love

Why are you lying into 05:00? I do miss the 03:30 starts to get the first flight out of LHR. Oh the shame of queueing at T1 till the security opened. I fall aslepp instantly on planes as result.
