I haven't found anyone local that I trust to leave the car at not fear for it being interfered with, so took it to lookers Ford, as it quite secure. I'd prefer someone who's used to morgans or classics. Who does yours John as it might be a nice trip down the road?

Jesus, talk about being paranoid! If you are that worried about it, just stay with the car whilst they do the test.

Arwyn

Thanks for you helpful advice

I am sorry Leroy but I tend to agree with Arwyn, surely your car is not that precious ?
John.

Its an absolute pleasure!

I wouldn't take my car to a main dealers either. I've a mate who works for one he's more a salesman now for what he says is unnecessary work than an Authorised Tester and he's under a target to generate servicing/repair work off the back of each MOT he does.

My first MOT after the rebuild didn't go according to plan. Although (1980 Plus 8) there is no lambda thingy or catalytic whatsit, I was disappointed when the tester said I'd failed on emissions. The new Edelbrock should have been good and the performance seemed excellent after nine years off road and 238,000 miles on the clock before that.
Bit embarrassed later to realise that I'd mixed the plug leads up and it was only running on six cylinders! An easy fix, though.

I don't leave the car. I stay with the car the whole time, it only takes one hour. I have used this garage for some 20 years and they MOT all my cars. I'll PM you details tomorrow.
Cheers
John

From my experience, you are better off taking an unusual car to somewhere that normally does mainstream cars. An unusual car is usually the highlight of their day & if you have to show them how to open the bonnet & release the handbrake you are halfway to a pass before you have started.

I find turning up at the local halfords Mot Centre with a packet of chocolate biscuits almost guarantees a pass as long as it all looks alright underneath & its not billowing black smoke.

That was my experience. Had to explain the handbrake and where the door handle was incase the mechanic tried to open the door by pulling on the sidescreen. Stood for about 10 mins talking to the sales rep about it as he'd never even heard of a Morgan.
