Any suggestions (apart from telling him to come register here!)

Well I used to know a thing or two about Aeros, but for trads I just know where the expertise is smile appreciate all the help folks. I’ve advised that we get ourselves over to a dealer near him and he can get out in a couple of likely candidates and go from there….

Richard, what ‘nonsense’ would that be then? I haven’t had to put anything right on my GDI or invest any money in it and mine is my daily driver at the moment and stays out all year. Great car.

Just curious to know.

Dave W I believe has written lots on it here Steve and others have suffered with poor mpg black exhausts etc, I think most of them ended up with an upgrade to the factory ECU and matching better breathing exhaust from memory. The costs were born by the owners themselves.

Someone who has suffered may care to step up..

Ah yes I remember that. Maybe I was lucky as my P4 already had half the sports exhaust from new and just doing a ‘flash’ at the factory while I was having a 3zip tonneau fitted was all that was needed. Have some had to change ECU’s then?

I don’t doubt that a better manifold would improve things further but in my case I don’t think it’s necessary. I guess you could say the same with a lot of cars where the manufacturer is always balancing need with cost.

Fuel consumption has always been 40 ish, I’m happy with that.

I certainly wouldn’t exclude a GDI P4 from the shopping list.

I don't know about that I thought it was more a case of getting it flashed.

This was DW's summation with the flash and exhaust, which seems fair comment to me smile Dave being a true Yorkshireman I knew it needed doing thumbs

..Tailpipe: Was black and sooty. Now is a much lighter grey.

So obviously I'm delighted by this transformation. The improved fuel economy must be related to being in a higher gear, and only needing the lightest touch of the accelerator to maintain progress. The whole feeling is transformed from a breathless poor revving engine into something which revs freely and pulls hard. It's not a cheap modification, and is how the Plus 4 should have been from the start. I would have been over the moon if this Morgan had felt like this from Day 1. It's astonishing.

Like Rich I would thoroughly recommend a good 4/4 Sport rather than a poorer +4.

That is where the best value and driving experience is to be found at that sort of budget.

There are plenty to choose from
