Verstappen is aggressive and often puts his car into a place where he forces the other driver to back off.
He has done this many times over his career.
Up to this point Lewis has played the "Gary Lineker" game and always backed off.
But I suspect that he was fed up with this approach and wanted to make a point. Remember, he could easily have lost a front wheel and also crashed.

To recover 10 seconds and then pass the Ferrari at the same corner shows his ability.
Max needs to grow up a bit, he has massive ability, but an equally large ego and is headstrong., causing him to take pointless risks.

I suspect that the next race will see Max out for revenge.

I agree sitting there feeling sorry for himself will win him no friends at all, he has a lot of maturing to do yet I suspect Horner's constant dripping in his ear is not helping matters. They both need to man up to the challenge of what was a racing incident, nothing more nothing less..

Max was only hospitalised for observation and as a precaution so as far as I'm concerned Lewis enjoying his win was the correct procedure, my word there are a lot of jealous people out there.

I truly felt sorry for Le Clerc for not having a few more donkeys though, although exciting to watch he must have felt gutted.

Poor old Bottas too I have sympathy for, watching Lewis sprint away from him during the last 10 or so laps is doing little to retain his German seat for next year.
As time goes on he is appearing to be another nice nearly man like Coultard, Weber et al and it must be tough to take when they see the youngsters showing far more natural ability.

I shall enjoy the rest of the season too, especially enjoying the renaissance at McLaren..

I wonder, what my UK friends would have said, if Max would have knocked Mr Hamilton out of the fasted corner and whilst Lewis was in hospital to take a CT scan Max was jumping of joy upon winning the race.
On the point of Max being aggressive, the facts are that Lewis picked up 4 penalty points now, at 12 points in a year one gets disqualified for a race. I note that Max wt Schumacher and Alonso are still at zero points…
As a physicist I learned that there is value of looking at things from a different frame of refference.

I fully expect that within the next race or two that is exactly what we shall see happen as both drivers further explore the finer limits of other tracks and justice will be meted out once more as the stewards see fitting, we don't have to agree with their decision as it's way beyond our pay grade.

Nobody wants to see anyone get hurt but these are grown up's playing very dangerous games for extremely high stakes and to not expect them to be massively competitive is naive really. The best example of drivers running others off the road is Schumacher Snr but everyone accepted that as normal racing incident so what's changed I ask myself.

TBH The incident that really needs investigating is exactly how Grosjean's HAAS engulfed him in flames within milliseconds a while back, that was the most serious accident by far for years where loss of life was but an instant away and affects all drivers no matter where there standing.

It's the engineering perspective overview that proffers a different set of priorities Bert more biased towards personal safety within the constraints of the sport.

It will be an interesting season to come.

They certainly did not pace themselves from the off did they, it was great to watch.
I feel it was a racing accident, Max definitely turned in quite hard as he has done in the past but Hamilton was to late to really sling one up the inside on that lap. Perfectly fair to be looking.

I did not get much extra from the sprint race on Saturday but guess that is more about selling grandstand tickets to help rebuild the venue's again, they must have suffered like many other industry's.

If they start to go at it in the manner of Senna and Prost it could make for an interesting year but I hope they do not. It is not a championship when that happens, it is crap for the manufacturers championship as well and all the work by the team, designers, mechanics etc can be wasted through selfish actions.

Agreed re the McLaren continued improvements as well as LeClerc and the Ferrari, great improvement and it must have boosted the whole teams spirits. Russell was not so lucky but still punching above last season and if I were Bottas I would be worried now.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I agree Richard about Horner who comes across as a bitter fellow on most things Mercedes, he seems to forget the past dominant Red Bull years. I thought it spiteful that they ordered Perez in for a tyre change to go for fastest lap at the end of the race, just to deny Hamilton the extra point when that also denied Perez a potential points position and they would not gain from the extra point.

David, that move totally passed me by and I agree it is pretty small thinking and not kind to Perez who gives his all as far as I can tell.

I believe Verstappen will be a little more circumspect when he returns. He now knows Hamilton will not be bullied and back off and there are true consequences if they tangle and come off. It will be interesting if Hamilton will have gotten into Verstappen's mind set, as previously he knew Hamilton would back off, now he doesn't know what may happen.

Whilst I understandably support British drivers, I would never let nationality influence my appreciation of a excellent drive and a great display of driving skills. I have in my time followed closely the successes of other drivers irrespective of their nationality. On Sunday Hamilton won for a German racing team, I enjoyed and celebrated the victory for both.

As you may well imagine, much Red was drunk in our house hold, just a pity Charles couldn't hang on for the win but never the less a great result for Ferrari. As for Hamilton and Max, obviously I'm no expert but I'm with David when he said that the penalty was too lenient. If H had been given a 10sec stop and go, we would have seen a completely different race but never mind, we move..

As I understand it (happy to be told I am wrong) the penalties are awarded based on the cause of the incident, not the result of the incident. If that is the case then 10 seconds would have been a bit harsh. If my understanding is incorrect then I would agree that a 10 second stop go would have been more appropriate.
