I may have commented on this thread already (I don't read through previous pages) but the Wolf guard is an engine saver. I fitted one after going through some mud (yes, just mud, no stones) and found that my engine was leaking oil. The engine is so low and the sump plug so vulnerable - combined with the fact that the engine would suffer catastrophic damage by losing oil...!

The guard is not a bump plate - I think of it as a rubbing plate. Allowing you to pass very slowly over humps that touch the plate.

I would guess the plate has saved my engine from serious sump plug damage at least a dozen times.

Thanks for the feedback on how useful it can be - piece of cake to fit - all done in 35mins! The photographic instructions supplied by Wolf Performance are excellent.

Having got comfortable with the effect of SSL suspension at the standard ride height, I've now raised the ride height a smidge.... which might not be optimal for track days, but is a lifesaver for a city-dweller.

At the moment it's up +10mm, and I've not hit anything at that height. There's a small amount of additional float at speed (60mph on A roads), and maybe the car's more sensitive to heavy loads - best stored within the wheelbase rather than in the deep well at the rear of the boot. The effects are at a level which the driver notices, but not the passenger.

I may bring it back down to +5mm & see if that keeps me off sleeping policemen, without the float.

Hi Will, how easy/difficult is it to adjust the ride height and what is the process? Or is not a case of take it to a workshop for the "Professionals" to do it? I have mine at standard height and find it excellent on track etc although like you spend most of my time around Surrey and Kent and would benefit from an extra 10mm, especially now the sump guard is on which whilst offering protection does reduce the clearance even more.

I let my dealer do the work - if you're mechanically-minded & have the kit you could DIY

On Aero chassied cars before the S5 it's a wings off job to adjust the ride height at the front....

I've just had my sump plate fitted too...


Simon H has just replied to your post to say that you may have to remove the wings on your car to adjust the front suspension.
I have a S5 with the SSL conversion and am pretty sure all four shocks can be adjusted for height by undoing the bolt as indicated, marking the position and rotating with a 'c' spanner.
This is well above my pay grade and will be left to a local technician...

Agreed - definitely a BHM job and not for me! Sump plate looking good!
