If it does have a bevel box and if after a few months it appears to be fit for purpose, my faith in Morgan will be restored if it is bolt compatible with the version 1 M3W.
To many if's.

For the last couple of months I have been asking everyone I come into contact with (around MMC) about the new M3W.

This is just my current feeling, based on all the little 'bits' I've got

Ford Ecotec 1.0 3 cylinder - water cooled, turbo
Fully enclosed under bonnet
Wider front track - with car type tyres
Rear wheel drive
Rear disc brake
Longer o/all than previous

The prototypes are being tested now - performing really well, much improved handling & brakes (Millbrook). Fact - I have spoken to people around this testing who confirm its all going really well.

Lets hope it comes in a little lighter than before - don't know if this will be possible with a water cooled engine?

I think a plus point is that the Ford engine is readily available, spares should be cheap and is made in UK. Should be good for circa 120hp.

Must have some sort of bevel drive - if so, lets hope it is better sorted than the current arrangement.

Hope we will hear something definitive from MMC soon.

What do you think/know?

Thanks
Andrew

So, they’re building a vanderhall? Meh

Key will be pricing - (not so) new owner is pushing this up to ensure profitability - given limited numbers and need to recover development costs, I suspect will be north of £50k which is a lot for a toy vs other ways of spending this amount....

It'll need to feature inbuilt proven reliability for that money. A little hot Ford three pot and bonnet for me.

They cannot afford another disastrous launch and limping along throughout the products lifetime which has been atrocious PR, so they have to get this one right to retrieve some respect and confidence in the product.
It wouldn't have happened on Peter's watch that's for sure.

The fact that an extremely talented Flute maker has provided the only viable solution for their abysmal drive train speaks volumes in itself.

Hopefully the new one will have a traditional 'F type' look to it, rather than the generic plastic jelly mould look of the vanderhall or the new Larsen.

Hope so too, think it'll be a cross between F Type front end and EV3 side and rear.

Yes TBM/PeterG - lets hope you are right.
It was described to me as being "an evolution of the original design"

I hope they will also address the build quality/fit & finish issues we have all experienced - it can't be too hard to seal all those gaps.

From a price point of view I think that anything close to £50k will be too much (for me anyway) - Im hoping it will start with a 3 !!

Regards
Andrew
