The Standard Special engine is totally different to the Standard Vanguard / TR engine.

Dave Sapp has a Standard Special engine in his Morgan. Dave is in Somerset, but doesn't post on TM.

It provided a challenge during restoration , is all I know.

Standard special is based on standard 8,10 bottom end different to triumph engines

Rob Davies (BuyBritish of this parish) has a 1947 Series 1 with I believe the Standard Special engine so another useful contact.

Possibly but it's a super rare engine, so the expertise will lie with those who have taken one on. Dave had to have a block repair after a crack appeared, and there were other difficulties due to its rarity.
