Verify you are getting voltage to the coil. I had a "quick disconnect" that was faulty. The pins were good, but the wires crimped into the male and female pins were heavily corroded. No battery voltage to the coil, the tach would drop to zero, engine would instantly die. Jiggle wires, car would fire up and run until the next bump in the road...

I did test the connections and replaced one of the spades as there was bare wire showing, though nothing near for it to short to. But swapped the coil for an old one I had in stock and it fired up straight away, now to see if RPI will replace it…
