Hi All
I'm looking at fitting my sit belts back onto my MOG. The problem is that in the past I remember driving along and the belt sliding down my shoulder. To that end I'm thinking of fitting 3 point harness. Has anyone in TM world fitted these to a normal road going MOG. If so, what are your views? If you had your chance again would you still fit them? I saw Car SOS the other day and a 1950s MGA had them fitted and it looked petty good. If you have had them fitted, does anyone know of a good make?

Did you mean 4-point Dave? .... if your belt slides off your shoulder you sound to have 3-point already? ..... my car came with 4-point as it was used for hillclimbs ... they certainly hold you in place ... the only downside is I've never seen a 4-point inertia-reel belt so you sit where you sit .... fortunately all the switches etc in a Morgan are close to hand.

Hi Dave I have a three point harness seat belt you need a harness bar fitted between the interior rear wheel arches to clip rear end of seat belt to, I like mine only thing is if you come up to a junction on an angle it hard to see what's coming as you can't twist your body around as you are pinned to the seat

My bad 😁.. in everyday speech three-point generally refers to the standard 'lap and diagonal' setup .... you're meaning the type with two shoulder straps that 'y' to a single rear mounting .... harness bar is the way to go but be sure the end result meets the fitting spec for angle over your shoulder (with a harness bar you could also fit full 4-point) .... as Scott says, they need to be tight to work and that gives issues with mobility (and, until you're used to them, they can feel quite claustrophobic compared to the freedom to fidget at will of standard belts) .... looking forward to seeing the build blog of your car

I had harnesses in my old Landrover. They certainly keep you pinned to your seat, and I liked the positive feel you get.

The passenger side was a right ballache, and everytime I had a different passenger I had to spend a while adjusting the straps to make sure it was a good fit. My Mrs hated them.

As mentioned above, getting a good view at junctions could be tricker, as was access to anything more than arms length away.

That looks an interesting idea ..... wouldn't pass scrutineering for official competition ... but for road use it looks to give the best of both worlds .... nice find!
