we (actually the missus) have an 04 plus 8. Morgan installed a small powersport battery in the cramped space. as many of you know, to get that power into a small case the lead plates are thinner and so the blasted thing has a short life span (even on a trickle charger) Anyone put in a lithium battery? I am looking at the antigravity AG-1601 https://antigravitybatteries.com/products/starter-batteries/small-case/ag-1601/

Hi Rodger I've used an Anti-gravity battery on my BMW R1200 GS and whilst it was OK it needed to be constantly on a specialist battery conditioner and despite the claims by the manufacturer of peak Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) the performance was not as good as a traditional lead acid battery. Also the they do fail they give absolutely zero waring and just stop 100%. After about 2.5 years mine gave up and I went back to a lead acid which then lasted at least another 6 years. I always have my cars on C-Tek battery conditioners all the time and my BMW motorcycle on an OptiMate Can Bus compliant conditioner. Overall therefore I was not impressed. I also bought some of their emergency starter packs and they have not stood the test of time either and I have now switched to NOCO which seems to be a better quality product and seems to work much better - not sure if they offer Lithium batteries as well as the jump start packs. I did find this on the web and confirm I've never used their batteries, only the jump starters: https://no.co/products/lithium/powersports
Cheers, Paul

I have had to buy an Odyssey PC925 AGM battery and mount it on its side, as Morgan only left room for some tiny mini sized battery which was hopeless. Now it flings the old V8 over and no problems so far - I put it on the Ctek overnight about once a month. Mine is mounted behind the drivers seat yours maybe different.

I would be inclined to try a gel or glass fibre battery with better vibe resistance rather than go expensive lithium.

Yes the AGM one I mentioned above doesnt seem to mind bouncing around-our roads are not like Europe. Though I do utilise the standard isolator switch when not using the car for a while.

I got my 87 plus 8 plus, Mog Vette, with an Odyssey PC925T battery. Just replaced it with a ODS-AGM28LA that I presume is the new number for the same battery. In spite of its having far less CCA than the usual rating for a Corvette, I never had a problem immediately firing the LS2 with the 925T until I wrecked the battery by inadvertently leaving the key on for weeks. My car is left hand drive and the battery sits upright on the right side.

This winter I am going to re-locate the battery position to behind the passenger seat and replace the oddyssey (well I will put it in the relocated spot until it craps out) with a real car sized battery. I will do a write up with pictures.
