I bought a o-ring kit with a lot of different sizes found one with a good fit, changed to a shorter bolt and secured it with locktite. Seems to do the job!

But I think I will write to MMC anyway.....just for the "fun" of it!

Lightspeed I totally agree with you that MMC dumps all problems on the owners and not standing behind their products, but even knowing this I bought one more Morgan (2019 Roadster)......It must be some sort of evil spell or disease?? :-)

That isn't a great way of doing the cap seal Swedewheeler, nothing is really retaining the O ring in place, unlike the original cap where the O ring sits in a grove and it seals on the side of the inlet pipe. That will deform the O ring and it could fall into the tank again. A new rubber seal made from some fuel resistant rubber sheet such as 3mm neoprene and retained with a large penny washer, as in the photo will cause fewer problems.

The penny washer I used in mine is the front exhaust baffle I removed with a 38mm hole cutter. Stainless steel and recycling.

Sorry, i just could not resist. If you purchase a Morgan in the USA you better live within an easy tow truck ride from it and make sure that the dealership is one that will work for Morgans pay schedule and not charge you a lot of money to fix their problem which has now been transferred to you, the owner. Very frustrating.
I would not recommend buying a Morgan for those reasons, and now that the Three Wheeler is out of production and the engines are no longer made it will be increasingly more difficult to get things for these quirky, fun, little cars.

I suspect there are dealerships in the USA that saw this coming and have stocked up on parts but those will run out and only by the good graces of Ian and the MTWC and its Alternate Parts List will this survive.

Sad but true LightSpeed.....

Just what Dr Planenut ordered :-)

I guess the penny washer could be a tad bigger but, I think this will do.

What does the sealing face on the oil tank look like ?

Any idea why Morgan changed the original design - an O ring is a much better system in my opinion ?

Almost certainly a cost reduction.

This are the pictures from my wife’s M3W. As you can see even the upgraded seal is NOT fail proof. This is the original seal since new 2013. Found the rubber debris back in the oil filter. Luckily there where no metal parts in the filter ( see my other post “oil change nightmare” ).

Can someone please post a picture of the oil tank seating face ?

The full width gasket is a disaster waiting to happen. If an O ring will work with the later oil tank filler I'd use one.
