Talk Morgan Forums Morgan Sports Cars Classic Morgans (pre-CX) 4/4 Tyres - Help!

When people are talking Hankook are they recommending the Hankook Kinergy eco 2 K435 Tyre
or the Hankook 165/80R15 Optimo K715 87T 165 80 15. .

The Kinergy eco seems to be the only one I see available here in Tassie.

Uther ..... OZ 4/4 sounds like he has practical experience of the Hankook tyres ....... the ones on my car are the Optimo .... I haven't driven on them as the car is still in resto but, as the previous owner (one of my racing pals) used the car for road/trials/hillclimb and was a 'press-on' driver, if no-one comes up with a horror story regarding their use then I'll probably give them a try at the appropriate time. The eco version looks ok on paper and would also be in my sights pending some user feedback on here.

Ps .... though, if the Vredstein T2 is back in production come driving time then I might need to toss a coin🙂

I declined the offer of the Conti CT22 due to the vendor not being able to supply the Vredstein advertised on their website. They are still shown on BC if you fancy wasting some time with an order and a bit of a game?

Based on reviews and again, Vredstein Ttrac 2 not being available in the UK for the forseeable future according to Vredstein themselves, I will now look to order some Hankook tyres.

Considering the tyre rating labels, for the two Hankook available in the UK, (sorry, no idea about Tasmanian tyre stocks!)

Based on availability, price and rating I can see no reason to order the Optimo over the Kinergy Eco2 K435? (formula 1 race driver recommendations aside?)

The Ec02 appears better in;
Tyre efficiency; C vs F
Wet grip; B vs E
Noise rating equal at 70db.

It's taken a while. but I have just taken delivery of a set of 4 Vredstein T-Trac2 tyres in 165/80/15.

They appear to be back in producrion as the build marker is week 20/2021.

I just need to spray the wheels to remove the balance weight marks and get them fitted, it's never straightforward with an old Morgan?

MWS were able to supply 5 Vredstein T-Trac2 tyres 165/80/15 for my 4/4 in a few days a couple of weeks ago....

What about the Pirelli Cinturato?

I beleive that Morgan did fit them as standard at one point? But importantly a Cinturato will handle better than a modern tyre carcass on your chasiss.

And how about some white wall?
