I live in the United States. Have 2018 Roadster. This problem has just started in the pass three weeks or so. Start car turn on A/C and the air is cold. After driving for 20-30 minutes air from a/c is warm. then after 20-30 minutes it's cold again. what is causing this?
please don't respond that it's a Morgan and i don't need a/c. it's been 95-99 degrees here.

It maybe nothing at all to do with this, I have a 2008 Roadster that was retro fitted with Morgan air conditioning system. It has a separate on -off switch located under the dash for the air conditioning condenser fans. With the car moving at speed, the passage of air thru the condenser is sufficient to cool the air for the air conditioning to operate cold. However, in congestion or slower moving traffic (with less air movement thru the condenser) the fans have to be turned on for the air conditioning to remain cold, you can of course choose to just leave the fans on all the time. I find in temperatures above 85F with the roof down the air-conditioning (which has been recently fully serviced and gassed up) struggles to cool the car (haven't tried with the roof up at those temps) Has the air-conditioning refridgerant levels been checked, could it be low, as it does deplete over time?

If it is like mine, you should find a small rotary knob on the side of the heater box. It adjusts the cooling properties for the air conditioning. Try fully clockwise (maximum cooling).

I remember reading about an open top special that needed a truck A/C unit to work effectively. Certainly wouldn't expect that sort of performance from factory one.

Ed, John makes a valid comment about use of fan with A/C. You make no mention of the two speed fan on your Roadster. Does that make a beneficial difference?

On our Mini it's a far better control of cabin temp than the temp controls themselves.

The air conditioning on my 69 Morris Minor works perfectly ,dual control ,just open the quarterlight and turn through 90 degrees and you have a blast of fresh air .
Does not work when static .

Ditto my Land Rover. The faster you go the cooler you get. Useful ventilation for the dog when left in cab, without compromising security (what little there is )

To avoid confusion I would draw a distinction between the dashboard speed fan and temp control knobs that control the temp and fan speed for the interior and the fans I referred to which are mounted on the condensor/radiator in the engine bay which has the on-off switch.

The A/C on my 2013 +4 is best described as cool rather than cold despite a service, I am not aware of any fans on the condenser could those on yours be an aftermarket fit ?to improve efficiency.

Mine is a Morgan supplied air-conditioning system all Morgan parts , it's the earlier under slung air conditioning condenser fitted to the Roadsters and +8 that has a twin electric fan shroud. I'm not sure how the later system works which has the condenser mounted with the water radiator and uses the single fan for cooling both the water rad and the condenser. Whether the electric fan is triggered independently on by both the water temperature sensor and any air conditioning sensor, I'm not sure. If the fan is only triggered by the water temperature sensor ,I can understand why there may be intermittent performance from the air conditioning as it would subject to the passage of air at speed through the condenser if the fan is not on.
