https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/exclusive-first-look-all-new-2022-morgan-3-wheeler

“ two-seater ditches outboard V-twin motor for a more powerful Ford triple… normally aspirated, longitudinally mounted version of Ford’s considerably more refined 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit, as used by the Fiesta ST hot hatchback. ”

“ Like the old car, the new 3 Wheeler will be rear driven, with the nose-mounted engine sending power through a five-speed Mazda MX-5 gearbox to a bevel box behind the cockpit, and then to the single rear wheel via a toothed belt.”

Front end is made a little more interesting than just having a radiator. Not quite the same as an air cooled engine out the front though!

I like the built in mounting system for things like racks and windscreens though!

Nice enough v2...personally I think they are mad not to go electric from the outset given the short lifecycle and limited numbers to recover the development cost...

Any bets on pricing? Quite a bit development cost to recover and the (now not so new) owners are no doubt going to learn from the just departed M3W to get this thing right from the outset and actually make some money....talking of getting it right, hopefully more right than the new Plus 4 with its radiator and other problems....

Well my first thought were how much power are they pushing through the belt drive? Will it be robust enough?

Looks good to me. As for price working on MMC's pricing over the past years whenever there's a last of or special of the outgoing model, knock off approximately 8k and thats the new models price. About 45k basic I'd think.

From the gearbox back it sounds very mechanically similar to the current M3W. Maybe they have finally sorted out the Quaife bevel box as the final few V-Twin M3W's all seem to have quiet bevel boxes? I would hope it is a new design. All the work seems to have gone into the front end with the totally different engine and front suspension. It will be interesting to see the real thing.

Assuming they are still using similar fuel tanks to the outgoing model, it looks like they have reduced the boot space by adopting a lower profile boot lid. Let's hope the fuel tanks are adequately located by the aluminium chassis this time.

Normally aspirated has got to be a plus sign for the bevel drive system at least.
I'm rather pleased they have gone back to the excellent Ford power unit and a nod to history.

The front wheels look rather interesting too, what little you can see of them.

With it being a lot lower it should open it up to the wrinkly market ingress and egress wise, and not quite as shouty as the previous model..
I think they'll launch at £50,000..
