I know there are lots of you love a good watch ,I have a 1980 Rolex and a2011 Omega Seamaster and a collection of G1098 watches .
I like CNN news and a while back saw on the 100 club the story of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso .
I decided to get one ,there are quite a few models and it has taken weeks to decide which one to pick .
I have gone for a 2010 model Reverso Grand Taille in rose gold .
i can only wear one watch at a time so this is an investment to pass on to one of my sons .
Does any other TMers have a Jaeger-LeCoultre .

I was lucky enough to get one as a gift from a company when I left. JLC Classic, Duo Face, Rose Gold, small seconds.

I think it was a bit of a polite joke given I had spent literally 2 weeks in California and 2 in the UK every month for about 18 months as the watch has two sides with two timezones on them. You can manually "swipe/twist right" to see the other timezone. If the face was white I was in England, if it was black then I was in California again. Surprising how helpful that was compared to Apple Watch etc.

It is a lovely watch and understated compared to many with the huge size thing going on. Compared to the Panerai it seems far less lumpy and you are not constantly aware of having it on your wrist. I consider it my dress watch or business suit watch. I tend to avoid wearing in in rough times because the gold is a little softer and can mark if you are rough. Not something that would stop me buying one.

It seems to go through straps more than my other watches for some reason.
Beautifully made, although the rose gold is much lighter tone than the more fashionable red tone of more modern watches.

A friend also had a rose gold Classic Squadra which was the thicker more square version. At first I did not like it but after a while I came to think it was very attractive. Not as Art Deco in style but well styled.

No problems with the movement however if you want it serviced by the factory brace yourself!

edit - thats funny - I did a quick search on giggle and the one you are looking at is the model I have! small world.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I am a lover of beautiful watches but I have now had to stop as I have 10 so my collector box is full but it doesn't stop me looking though. If you like an in depth review of watches then there are some really great videos on u tube

I bought the watch on Watchfinder ,a good selection and easy to deal with .

The biggest problem was the bank refusing to put my payment through ,blocked my debit card ,took a long call to the fraud team to convince them that it was me .

I've owned a J LeC ultrathin for many years. I love it, always have. I also have a J LeC memovox (alarm watch) which I'm not so keen on. I keep meaning to sell it but never quite get round to it!

This might be dangerous

If there are two things we spend ridiculous amounts of dosh on, it’s cars and Wristwatches

Never had a JLC though. I seriously considered a JLC minute repeater a good few years ago but put the money towards my first Morgan instead

I keep toying with buying one - I fancy a Rolex Yachtmaster in gold. But when I look at the prices which are the same as a small car, its clear to me that much of the price is accounted for by the name and not the manufacturing costs. You might well be paying £10k for something that cost just £1k to make, and whats more works less effectively than your phone. Then of course there are the annual service costs - more than the family car!

I have a gold Seamaster in the drawer that my mother bought me for my 21st. In honesty, its a piece of horological junk that accurately tells the time very rarely indeed. It is of course mechanical and will never compete with a proper piece of electronics picking up a signal from an atomic clock somewhere.

I guess thats why the CEO of Rolex insists that his products are jewelry not timepieces.

Wow..a Jlc repeater would be waay out of my budget! I've always fancied a repeater but never seen one I could afford.

I have a "gold" Omega Seamaster that was presented to my father on his retirement in 1965. I took it to a local jeweller for servicing and was told it was gold plated and not worth looking at.
My dad was screwed....

I had a JLC Reverso in steel for a while, bought it whilst on holidays in Singapore over 20 odd years ago. Great watch with a nice leather strap, I found that the inside of the leather strap ( like most leather straps) would discolour and look awful from rubbing against my skin when I had sun screen on. I had the same problem with a gold Rolex Daytona on a leather strap. After a while I got fed up with the extortionate cost of each manufacturers' replacement straps and got rid of both watches. I now never wear watches with leather straps.

Even a watch that has stopped tells the correct time twice a day.
