I have one - it's a very clever movement and a good mix of complications and sports watch. It's the watch I wear every day.

I have been offered one by my dealer but I want the blue dial version (favourite colour) and that means a very long wait.

Dilemma, I have a Breitling Chronospace (first edition) and it was the first in the country.I bought it in 1986. It has had the hands and quartz movement both replaced by Breitling over the years for Aerospace parts as the original were no longer available. The Bezel ( a flight computer ) has now suffered from wear, the markings have lost their colour the red from the N and some of the black from the other markings. The dilemma is should I leave it as it is or get Breitling to replace the bezel for north of £400.

What would you do ? confused2

I have the blue, it's a nice looking dial. I sold my Aquanaut, which I never wore, and bought it with the profit. The Aquanaut has probably doubled in price since I sold it - some really crazy values in watch la-la land!

When I qualified in medicine in 1973 I treated myself to a new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust in stainless steel, black dial. I got it from a local jewlers round the corner from the hospital I was working at in Salford, Lancs. List price was £150 but he let me have it for £130, green case, documents etc. Worn it every day since, except when it's gone for service at The RWC, Bexley, Kent. I've always sent it direct back to them. I've beaten the sh*t out of it doing DIY over the years but it still keeps going, a great investment. It always comes back after service looking like new. I've never needed another watch. ⌚ 🤗

Maybe, but one that loses a minute a day is only correct every 720 days - if my logic is right confused2

I can think of one good alternative use for an expensive watch - its a useful way of passing on money to the kids outside IHT.

If the stopped watch shows say 11.00 it is guaranteed to be correct twice a day, few watches can match the atomic clock used to measure time accurately .Some 400 atomic clocks around the world contribute to the calculation of International Atomic Time (TAI), one of the time standards used to determine Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and local times around the world. Satellite navigation systems like GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo also rely on precise time measurements to calculate positions accurately.

Currently watches are outside of CGT......not so sure about Inheritance tax if mentioned in the will.

Yes, but the younger generation are far more interested in Gold, Diamonds or a Classic car which achieves the same result. They don't like bling on their wrist.

The only watch ours are interested in are Apple watches I think you'll find.

You don't have to wear vintage and some versions of modern Rolex and Patek Phillippe watches, they have proven since 2008 financial collapse (with the exception of highly volatile cryptocurrencies), to have outperformed most other markets by a considerable margin, and require limited storage and other than servicing every 5 or so years incur little further costs of holding.
