Someone said that their Centa created a vibration. There is no way on the design to go out of balance unless one of the logs literally disintegrated and fell out. Or maybe the rubber is not forgiving enough and the vibration is actually the torque pulses coming through the driveline.
I do really wish you guy a good solution to the comp problems.
How about an impeller that is out of balance to start with causing the rollers to constantly getting pressure imparted to them unequally? I could see an impeller being out of spec as a possibility causing a host of other problems.

My original Harley compensator starting making hideous music at idle and low speed. Drove it home, noticing that the noise seemed worse at every low rpm opportunity. Someone here mentioned a unit by Belt Drives, Ltd. I asked them if their CS-25A-1 could survive without grease or an oil fog environment. Scott, of Belt Drives, opined "The Nylatron washers do hold up, we use the same material for a friction plate used on the early clutch hubs and there is no oil with this product and it has been in use for over 25 years Plastics are oil based so they do last" So, I'm thinking "a compensator that fits in the original housing and doesn't need grease?" Dare I hope? Of course a number of fitment issues might arise, a suspected one being that the compensator nut, U120027, might need to be shortened, as the Belt Drives unit doesn't have a spring, nor a spring housing. I'm willing to give it a shot. My M3W went 13K miles before the Harley unit failed. If the Belt Drives unit goes that far without my having to try to find the damned grease fitting every thousand miles, I'm ahead of the game. If only the compensator just sat under a primary case cover like on the bikes, eh? BDL compensator installation

Pulling out the engine to do the Bleazey Centa Conversion AND look to see why my clutch wanted to bounce and also look for sources of rattles. Yes Bunny, the sheetrock held. :-) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/15/E1FFF7E0-7134-4A3A-9E04-51CE9366D882.jpg) As removed from the flywheel. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/15/8C229BA2-9998-4B08-88A9-3B756F0378FA.jpg) What the other side looks like. MMC installed the disc backwards, maybe causing the hop in the clutch? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/15/DDB2E840-66A4-401F-A7C4-28B197868C02.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/15/0963C4EA-F243-4E20-AF26-6B2840BB5FEA_1_201_a.jpg) You can see the text on the clutch disc behind the fingers before I took the pressure plate off. The text was facing the pressure plate. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/15/62519735-E0ED-4D42-A624-67D3ADF10EFE_1_201_a.jpg)

Lightspeed, I'm very interested to know how the process goes as this is on my list for the winter months here in PA. Did you just order the parts from Phil or are you sending you compensator over for him to do the fitting? Please take plenty of pictures!

Lightspeed my clutch was fitted the same as yours and the one in Phil Bleazey's engine removal video is the same, so refitted it as it came out with the flywheel side facing away from flywheel.

Obie, was your clutch operating properly before you removed it? Why are some fitted with the text facing the flywheel as it directs and others opposite? I don't understand why a person would go against the manufacturers recommendation. Is there a reason?

Yes the clutch was and still is working fine. I have only seen yours, mine and the one in Phil's video and they are all fitted the same way round.

I looked at Phils video and did not see text on the disc, another oddity. I puzzled about the three extraction/draw bolts in the plate that hole the Centa into its bellhousing. Phille said they are 3/8 BSF - 20. WOW, finding those in the USA is going to be tough. They are close to 10mmX1.25 but apparently not, according to master Phil.

Phil is obviously the man to ask about the clutch as he has seen more than anyone else outside of the factory. Could you ask If could include a set of extraction bolts if he has not sent out your Centa kit yet?
