Could you not remove and replace the wheel a few degrees over if it is only slight? It can mess the self cancelling if you do that John. Actually on a Morgan it makes no difference at all, the cancelling mechanism is fully floating and driven by pegs on the steering wheel boss What’s happened here is that the rack has moved sideways in its clamps when the gaiters were swapped, the tracking hasnt moved… With a bit of luck you’ll still be able to see the original marks on the rack made by the clamps , and adjust the rack sideways to suit

The dealer took care to fit rack back in same place after warranty gaiter replacement. They also road tested to confirm. Regarding the self cancelling I made sure the actuating slots on MotoLita wheel I fitted were symetrically displaced in straight ahead position and located on plastic ears of cancelling mechanism when wheel pushed on, but otherwise not critical. Adjusting track rods to compensate is wrong solution to correct steering wheel alignment IMHO unless there is a lock issue as well, after which toe would need to be checked anyway.

Sometimes Richard, one spline on the column isn't enough to get a centred steering wheel and the only option is a tweak on the track rods.
And tracking is easy to check at home with the right bracket!!

Just for what its worth if anyone is picking this thread up in 2024.
If you haven't removed the steering column from the rack so that the connection here has not moved at the rack end, loosen both the steering rack mounting blocks to the cross head and slide the whole steering rack either left or right to center the steering wheel in the car then tighten them up and all should be well!
