Long term Morgan owners tend to understand that a hands on approach is necessary if you are going to use it. Running costs will be high if you have to rely on garages to service and maintain your pride and joy. My wife and I have such happy memories of the 60,000 + miles we have driven our 1934 Morgan MX4 Super Sports. Norway, Italy, Germany all taken in it's stride with minimal problems. The preparation beforehand is vital.I have rebuilt the whole car over the years including engine, gearbox and have made lots of modifications to get it to it's current everyday use.
Our five speeder is now vying for most used spot having done 15,000 miles in three years. I deliberately bought an early 2012 M3W to prove a point. Upon purchase I took it apart, engine AND gearbox out and all the rear end. I rebuilt it to my standards with a Bleazey Driveline and ALL the other mods that have given others problems in the past. It has never let us down on the road and being nigh on ten years old it is to be expected that some things will tire out. Like a bad wiring connection this week. It would have been the easy choice to call the Auto Electrician in but i would not have learnt anything from that. Instead I found the problem by sheer determination and a dash of luck ! This FORUM thrives on people posting their experiences ( good or bad) and is IMO an invaluable tool to keep motoring on.
With the money saved I can now enjoy my Birthday !
We have no thoughts or intentions of selling any of our lovely Morgans, any problems we get will be tackled head on!

I'm afraid I can be classified as a Butterfly in as much as I have had 15 cars ( and 1 MotorHome ) in the last 21 years. As much as I love the varoius cars, except the MG which was horrible, I am always looking for a new toy. Life is very short and I need to pack in as much excitment as possible before I hang up my licence and migrate to the elcetric shopping buggy.
Here for a good time not a long time!!

I bought my TW in 2013 knowing that it was a surprise cover and that there might be design problems, being of the profession the seller did not hide anything from me on the first defects that appeared of the TW, the only one The speculation that I made was not financial, only the pleasure of driving in a vehicle that must be driven and mastered and improved and developed as desired, I recognize that for a person new to mechanics and exotic vehicles this can quickly become anxious, for me the first problems appeared 4 days after the purchase and the only time I didn't repair it myself was when I waited for the end of the warranty so that it returned to the factory for replacement of the frame that I re-welded 8 months before and the assembly of the new centa.
I currently have more than 100,000 km and as on the first day always want to make it run.

Love my '17 and don't have plans to part with it. To ensure I'd never impulsively sell it, I had my custom 'Shea Bros. Livery' graphics painted, not applied with vinyl. That was also a divorce tactic, but that's another topic. I've owned dozens of nice cars in 40 years of being a gearhead. The car that preceded the 3W was a '16 AMG GTS. Yes, fantastic 3rd car and apples-oranges. But it had to be driven TOO fast to be enjoyable. It was too, 'sophisticated'. I couldn't justify both, the 3W won. The 3W is far more visceral, soulful and rediculous.. I can tinker with it . As a driving enthusiast, is THAT bond not what matters? We all know the 3W is just as much fun to drive at 20 mph as 60+ mph and cool simply to admire on the lawn. It makes far more friends than the GTS ever did.
I knew going in that this is an 'enthusiasts' car, meaning craving upgrades and to a lesser extent, to remedy design woes.. OK, maybe not so much the later. Truly, shame on MMC for not initiating recalls for the obvious defects. Still, Ii's a 'platform', a work in progress, my labor of love. Mine's a garage queen, driven only 2600 miles so far. I'm content to relegate it to legacy status. But it's understandable why those who use theirs as regular transportation might question the relative value.

I have done 33,000 miles in my 8 years of ownership, not "regular" transport but certainly "used". Part of the reason I like my M3W is that it is now a part of "me" in that I have invested quite a lot of my time, money and energy into making it what it now is (reliable with good performance?), not something I would part with easily. I think the M3W community takes a bit of beating and the car is always well received where ever you go. I always get let out of side roads in traffic, unlike a BMW, Merc or many other cars and that has to be worth something these days 😊.

2 years ago I bought an immaculate Ferrari 599 to sit alongside my M3W. After a year I sold the 599. I didn't feel comfortable driving it knowing that every km and every stone chip devalued it and a mechanical issue would be horrifically expensive.
Although I recently had to replace the centa rollers on the M3W, the cost was small when spread across the 6 years of ownership. I never hesitate to use the car. It fits in a corner of the garage at home and is available all the time. I'll never sell it, I'm one of the lucky 2000~ that have one, a rareness only supercar owners enjoy. Nothing else gets as much attention and smiles

In all the mechanical issues aside I have never had more fun in a car that really need to be driven to be enjoyed. Would I wear a tuxedo and drive it to a big formal affair, no.
2019 M3W Sold and is now in Las Vegas enjoying the showgirls :-)

In 3 years of ownership I have spent £8k addressing factory born issues to keep my Brooklands on the road. If I needed to use a dealer to get all the work done it would probably be more like £10k. Did I anticipate having to spend that much? Probably nearer 50% was my original budget expectation when I bought the vehicle. Am I considering selling it any time soon? No.
To me the M3W is a thing of beauty, I admire it’s form every time I look at it and at the same time wonder what brutal problems it’s cooking up next. If it were a human character I guess it’s Villanelle who possesses a cold brutality under her innocent looking exterior.
