I have Will Freeman's old car that he used for his 48 state ride in 79 days. Well sorted when I got it. Have not had to do anything except normal maintenance.
The only way you will get me to part with it is to pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel.

cheers

... I also often wonder what nastiness my pocket rocket probably just concocts again!

I bought mine a few months ago and thanks to this forum I was aware that I have to spend some tousands of € on top to sort out all the problems of my year 2013 version - and I think it´s worth every single Euro and teardrop I spend on it.

By the way ... I saw in one of the posts before that somebody mentioned an overall number of 2000 pcs existing M3W - does somebody know the exact production numbers?

In the beginning I had grave doubts about keeping it. So much was going wrong, or breaking too soon for a relatively new car. Most of the repairs were made under warranty and when the chassis cracked I really thought she was a goner. Morgan replaced that. Car was totally rebuilt and good as new. It feels very solid now and I have very high confidence that I will be returning home under my own power rather than on the back of a flat bed truck.

Only consideration now is my age and health which is very good. When I can no longer get in and out easily then that will be the day to decide to let it go.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

When I bought my used ’13 M3W I thought I had done my research and had a plan to address the known issues. The experience of driving the M3W was amazing and the ‘upgrades’ were soon completed. My experience changed significantly when the new Centa journal part caused the rear mail seal to catastrophically fail, due to a manufacturing design flaw. The ensuing “nobody complains about that” from Morgan’s leadership (Steve Morris, Mark Baldwin, Adrian Westwood ) was even worse. Additionally, I never expected fuel tank mounts to crack and leak petrol, and that was the most expensive ‘upgrade’ on the list. By the end, my total ownership costs were about 3x what I planned for.

So, would I still have my M3W if I was not able to acquire #10 of Pete Larsen’s Liberty Motors ACEs? I’m not sure I know the answer to that question.

The experience of driving a Big V-Twin, reverse trike, modern-retro 3-wheeler is so unique that normal sports cars don’t really excite me much these days, and I’m not sure I could have given that up if the Morgan was the only option.

In the end, my struggles with my M3W and Morgan’s Leadership put me in the right place, and the right time, to buy ACE #10, so maybe it was all worth it after all.
I do feel good that I did everything I could to improve my M3W and was completely transparent when I sold it. The guy who bought it also had his eyes wide open and has made other improvements now too. We’ve even gone to the local Cars and Coffee together and will hopefully have more 3 wheeled adventures in the future too.

When anyone asks me if they should buy a M3W, I only reply with “choose wisely”. I also feel that there is really nothing like owning a Morgan, which can have many meanings too.

It's about 2,500.

Maybe Graham could have a quick peek at the build sheet of the last one when he's next taking a tour?

@3Gs

I'd be very interested to hear your comparison of the driving experience of the M3W vs. the ACE, i.e. power, handling, steering, ride, perceived quality (noise, rattles, etc).

Wearing a tuxedo? Obviously not. An officer's RAF uniform would be much more fitting!

Sure, I'll send you a PM Noah.

Here is a pic of them next to each other, before I sold the M3W

Awesome, thanks for reviving those memories Stephen!

We'll have to have some more adventures together soon; maybe not when it's snowing up top though laugh
