Awesome, thanks for reviving those memories Stephen! We'll have to have some more adventures together soon; maybe not when it's snowing up top though Snowing and closed facilities made it less than desirable but it was fun chasing the Ace,,, that thing is quick! Definitely do it again sometime. What kind of gearbox does it have? And I know it is lighter which really helps in handling and acceleration.

What kind of gearbox does it have? Pete used the Borg Warner T5. One additional reason was the T5's small bellhousing that maintains good ground clearance

I believe I had the same transmission in my TR4 w/V8 engine. Good trans with zero ground clearance issues in that little car.
Thank you.

The Joys of Owning and running a classic. Morgan are masters at realising that to some its a fad, and they will purchase and get rid when the going gets tough but to others its a real hobby and pleasure to work and improve and reliability of the marque. We are 7 months in to M3W ownership and apart from niggles are loving it. I have the other cars for reliability and an ageing MGBGT should i need a roof.
Enjoy all

What kind of gearbox does it have? One additional reason was the T5's small bellhousing that maintains good ground clearance In my haste I didn't give all the detail about the ACE's transmission and it seems important to mention... The T-5 was chosen for the ACE because that bell housing is smaller and it's also removeable (almost all other gear boxes today have integral bell housings). Pete then created a new minimal housing for a 7.25" Tilton racing clutch. The T-5's original 12+" dia. was reduced to 10" by making the custom housing (Mazda's is 13.75 I think). This also assisted in a lower engine mounting for low CG without clearance issues. Sorry again for the thread drift, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

When I bought my used ’13 M3W I thought I had done my research and had a plan to address the known issues. The experience of driving the M3W was amazing and the ‘upgrades’ were soon completed. My experience changed significantly when the new Centa journal part caused the rear mail seal to catastrophically fail, due to a manufacturing design flaw. The ensuing “nobody complains about that” from Morgan’s leadership (Steve Morris, Mark Baldwin, Adrian Westwood ) was even worse. Additionally, I never expected fuel tank mounts to crack and leak petrol, and that was the most expensive ‘upgrade’ on the list. By the end, my total ownership costs were about 3x what I planned for.
So, would I still have my M3W if I was not able to acquire #10 of Pete Larsen’s Liberty Motors ACEs? I’m not sure I know the answer to that question.
The experience of driving a Big V-Twin, reverse trike, modern-retro 3-wheeler is so unique that normal sports cars don’t really excite me much these days, and I’m not sure I could have given that up if the Morgan was the only option.
In the end, my struggles with my M3W and Morgan’s Leadership put me in the right place, and the right time, to buy ACE #10, so maybe it was all worth it after all. I do feel good that I did everything I could to improve my M3W and was completely transparent when I sold it. The guy who bought it also had his eyes wide open and has made other improvements now too. We’ve even gone to the local Cars and Coffee together and will hopefully have more 3 wheeled adventures in the future too.
When anyone asks me if they should buy a M3W, I only reply with “choose wisely”. I also feel that there is really nothing like owning a Morgan, which can have many meanings too.

Amazing, some things NEVER change..... And as long as buyers accept the status quo they never will change. A hope for improvement has been my motivation for posting about experiences with my M3W and Morgan's leadership; I think it's time for me to stop tying to push this rock up the hill...

I too was hoping for change rather than redirection. Once again there will be a flood of new guinea pigs for MMC to watch. Sisyphus is someone I am not, to easy to be squished by the rock.

Get the motoring and consumer authorities involved and you will be surprised just how fast that rock can move. It worked in Australia..... ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/02/Never-give-up-2.jpg)
