I've bought a lot of stuff from SNG Barratt.
The service has generally been very good. The quality of parts has varied which can be irritating at times, but no better or worse than most other after-market parts suppliers.
It will be interesting to see if they continue to utilise the expertise of Holdens existing staff or transfer the business elsewhere.

Having done a lot of M&A focusing on operations I would say if they have the space at either location you merge the operations. Getting rid of 1 site with the fixed costs and looking for synergies in the customer service teams and back office to pay off the cost of acquisition.
I can think of several sites where multiple companies are hosted by one CS team. The CS folk see on their screens which firm the customer is calling.
The trick of course is to establish who are the must keep staff & move the operations in a low sales period rapidly after any announcement. ERP systems will also need merging.
My guess depending upon the challenges is 6 - 12 months tops if that is their business plan.

I'd never heard of SNG Barratt so here goes.. lets hope big is better I've been happy with Holden up to now. Rich, they are one of the big boys in terms of supplying parts for Jaguar along with Manners and others. They are a familty run firm and are resposible for bringing back to the market many of the parts that were unobtainable until they started making them. My dealings with them have been very positive however, I can't see the fit with Morgan parts as the subject matter is worlds apart. Must be something else that made Holdens attractive, perhaps it's all the "vintage stuff" which will be new to them.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Lowebird ... I've never thought of Holdens as a Morgan parts supplier ... they seem more general 'classic' parts .... or do they have another strand of business I don't know of??

Reg, I knew of David Manners as I helped a friend of mine with his rebuild of a V12 XJS and lead loading doors was fun with a 500W soldering I remember but I enjoyed it. Not my sort of car although it looked good when finished I thought it felt a bit American barge to me.

I gather one of the decisions in SNG acquisition of Holden V&C is that they will now own the rights to the sale of all the classic Lucas manufactured items. Method in their madness it seems.

K When I mentioned Morgan parts I was thinking of the non specific related parts like helmets, goggles and that sort of thing. All Jaaaaaaagggg owners need are big wallets which they probaly also sell !!!
