I heard a snippet that the new three wheeler is 8” wider at the front wheels than the previous model. ...and the current one is plenty wide enough already for the rural lanes around us...

I heard a snippet that the new three wheeler is 8” wider at the front wheels than the previous model. ...and the current one is plenty wide enough already for the rural lanes around us... Not to mention driving it up onto a 4 post lift.

I'd read that the footprint was 'virtually identical'? Apparently not, I’ve seen the tyre marks on the MMC trailer.

I wonder how much the width of the current car is to limit roll in corners and help keep the relatively wide rear tyre in half-decent contact with the road given it is held rigidly in a vertical plane by the back suspension design.
Modern cars with massively (mostly un-necessarily) wide tyres now have to have all sorts of tweaks to the suspension to maintain grip/traction
Drove 2CVs for years and they had v simple suspension, plenty of grip and sensible narrow tyres...

New model will need to be wider to maintain stability as the centre of gravity has been moved rearwards.

I've just been looking at a photo of the test vehicle again. I have to say that I'm impressed with the way that the front suspension has been designed. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/26/Annotated-new-3-Wheeler-Compressed.jpg) Add to this the inboard shocks & correct steering geometry and I suspect it will run rings around our current cars in the handling stakes. On top of this it appears that the headlamp brackets work for either US or 'rest of the world' spacing just by swapping them over left to right. The big question remains as to whether we can get over the absence of a big V-Twin hanging off the front!
