Your neighbour sounds like a craftsman so knows the drill but has chosen to extended zero thought towards you.

The neighbour causes a dust problem. Why should you have to
a) put up with dust and possible noise with potential health issues?
b) spend your own money to deal with a problem HE created?
two courses of action.....
Speak to him and get a resolution that HE takes on board. Definitely the way to go. If he has any sense he will do the right things. He is on dodgy ground especially if a business. A hobby causing nuisance is still in need of resolving but a business opens up a can of worms.
If this fails then up the ante to Environmental Health/Planning at the council. This is an escalation with possible dispute declaration in the future ( house sale etc). It might also sour neighbourly relations and cause recriminations.

I just read your post again and the neighbours has said he will sort equipment for dust control. Make sure he does!

Based on my experience of (some) neighbours, try to quantify "when".

Just one caution - stone dust will have very sharp edges.

I would hose it off rather than dust it off.

I should have added that my garage is on a small industrial estate so it's not a garage attached to my house, but nevertheless my neighbour does have responsibilities.

I think after sealing up as many gaps as possible and vacuuming the entire car storage space I will look into an airflow and will continue to ask my neighbour to do his part by getting g proper dust extractors.

Apart from damage to paintwork I am concerned about damage to the engine bay and ....filters and .... it doesn't bear thinking about!

Has anyone had any experience of using an airflow system?

Are there any other garages in a different area that you could use?

If not you may end up weeing against the wind so to speak. Stone dust is nasty stuff and gets everywhere. And I mean everywhere...

Yes you shouldn't underestimate the effects on you and your passenger of breathing in these stone particles as they swirl around the inside of the car once you get underway, be very careful.

I’ve been using an Airchamber for a lonnnng time now, a bit of a fan, and I am happy to continue using it. Easy drive in/out but you cannot really work inside it.

The Airchamber’s real purpose is to keep air moving around a car and it does a good job. Rather like keeping vehicles in a draughty but dry barn. But, if you were to contemplate using an Airchamber primarily to keep the stonemason’s dust off your car then, whilst it will do a reasonable job, some of those dust particles will find their way through the filters in my opinion.

My brother in law keeps his Fat Boy in a Carcoon. Although not rigid it looks better made and the filters seem “better”.

I use an Air Chamber too, most pleased with it.

You could try over pressuring your garage. By that I mean have a fan pump air into your garage so the leaks go into his. That means a fan sucking in air ideally powered from his side & switched on when he is working. The air inlet needs to be in a dust free area.
