For performance I get the "let the engine breath" and have planned an open K&N on the induction and think a free-flow exhaust manifold by Librands is the way to go. As for sound, I want a bit more V8 burble plus some popping on the overrun but a relatively quiet note when cruising along.

I would go with what you suggest but also consider the Tornado or Optimax Chip (Mark Adams at Tornado Systems Limited can advise), with the correct set up (changing the fuel injectors and tuning correctly) makes a considerable difference to performance. You are governed by emission regulations so you have to stay within those boundaries, I am not so can go for the full on sound effect.
