Has anyone had an issue with their headlamp surround on a Plus Six? Mine don’t fit well and appear to have a random M5 nut used as a spacer on the retaining screw, between the surround and the plastic mounting.

Yes headlamp chrome surrounds are a big problem at Morgan. The current bodge to fix it and stop them being a poor fit is to glue some cork spacers inside the surrounds at the bottom so when the one retaining ring screw is fitted (at about '5 o clock position)it tightens onto the cork and does not 'lift' the chrome surrounds off of the two top lugs...
Lets face it these are a poor 'lucas legacy' design....

Thanks for the update, do you know if Morgan have a fix? Yes it's a random M5 nut Seriously though you are probably better off finding a custom solution yourself. Rob's suggestion with cork spacer and the "standard" factory (5") strip of self adhesive neoprene stuck over top of headlamp retainer as a starter.

Neoprene is what I use...it also reduces the wind noise and whistle through the headlight

Thanks guys, I’ll put up with a lot on my Morgan and consider many of the idiosyncrasies as part of the vehicle’s characteristics, however a bodge is a hodge and this is a hodge and, in my humble opinion not acceptable on a new car. Wish me luck at Morgan Works Malvern
