Those headlamp rims are well past their sell by date and the fit is terrible. That's the feature..............

I suspect it's mostly caused by the cheap modern plastic headlamp bowls that everything screws into

My old Mini has the same rims but are secured to the original steel backing bowls & everything fits way better, correct gaps & more secure

Maybe, but if it’s a feature it has to have a customer benefit, (features and benefits) and for the life of me the only benefit is to MMC, SO ITS JUST A BODGE.

Nick,
sadly MMC call my 10% under reading speedo acceptable. I agree with you on an 80k plus car this is not on. Good luck.

Allied to the gale of cold air from the back of the doors when the hood is up!! many hours of placing neoprene foam has reduced it somewhat but not eliminated it . As a "feature" all it does is give one a chill in the Kidneys after a long journey!!! Fit for Purpose - I think NOT!

Have you had the "this is illegal" discussion?

https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/how-accurate-is-a-car-speedometer/

The UK law is based on the EU standard, with some minor changes. A speedo must never show less than the actual speed, and must never show more than 110% of actual speed + 6.25mph.

So if your true speed is 40mph, your speedo could legally be reading up to 50.25mph but never less than 40mph. Or to put it another way, if your speedo is reading 50mph, you won’t be doing more than 50mph but it’s possible you might actually only be travelling at 40mph.

To ensure that they comply with the law and make sure that their speedometers are never showing less than true speed under any foreseeable circumstances, car manufacturers will normally deliberately calibrate their speedos to read ‘high’ by a certain amount. As your satnav is not the designated device by which a car’s speed is measured, it does not need to incorporate any fudge factoring.

From HM Pages
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2001/25/schedule/3/made

Section 19 Speedos

1. The vehicle shall be fitted with a speedometer capable of indicating speed in mph at uniform intervals not exceeding 20 mph at all speeds up to the maximum speed of the vehicle and capable of being read by the driver at all times of the day or night.

2. For all true speeds up to the design speed of the vehicle, the true speed shall not exceed the indicated speed. (under-reading)

3. For all true speeds of between 25 mph and 70 mph (or the maximum speed if lower), the difference between the indicated speed and the true speed shall not exceed—

V/10 + 6.25 mph

where V = the true speed of the vehicle in mph.

Yes & I gave up in the end. The speedo faces the passenger so I fitted a GPS one.
