The new holders will be arriving next week, but I'm tempted to see how long this particular bodge will last before I replace them properly.
Probably years! Indeed. My worry is not the longevity of the bodge, but what if a proper engineer gets to see it? I'm not sure I could bear the embarrassment! Don’t worry, I won’t look….

[But you'd still know. Oh, the shame of it! As I previously owned two ex MOD Land Rovers, and an ex MOD Armstrong MT500. I can say with confidence that it is a quality field repair and any squaddiy would be proud of it. You could remove all the fuses in my S3 109" and it would still run perfectly. Before I bought mine, I was taken in by the myth that all ex MOD stock would be "well maintained". I think 'having the arse ragged out of it and then bodged back together' would be a better description.

Well this thread's been a bit quiet... Thanks to a local pheasant head butting the headlamp unit & the quote from the main dealer how much pal !! I decided to attempt a replacement myself, problem was lots of special hidden clips, bolts, and blood spilled as the radiator top covers & whole front end had to come off ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/20/20211020_105813_resized.jpg) Just over three hours later, back together (even dipped metal fixings in waxoil) & basking in the warm glow of saving almost £500

Not meant in a rude manner but I am guessing the £500 would have covered about three hours plus VAT.
So that tells me it's even worse as a person with no previous experience of Lexus Meccano designs could do it themselves in only three hours!!
So the trained chimp with experience and all the right tools and tweaky bits does not do it faster?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

About half of the saving was by also using a new but non OE unit, which they were mardy about plus 2hrs labour & any clips they mangled would be charged

Had to cut a hole in my gearbox tunnel to access the angle drive. Made this little plate to cover the hole and give some space for the drive. Not done anything like this before so pleased with the result. Used a ballpein and a wheel spacer. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2021/10/31/IMG_20211031_102412.jpg)

Something to be rather proud of, I feel! Well done.
