I have the 2litre Fiat engine plus 4. Where the bell housing meets the engine block there's alot of flywheel showing. I'm wondering if there should be a cover over it? Anyone here have the same engine and could have a look at theirs for me? It's a peace of mind thing really. Nick

I've got the Fiat twin cam 4/4 and I think I know what you are refering to. Is it on the underside where the Bell Housing meets the Sump Pan ?.If it is then there should be a bent metal cover held on with four M6 bolts covering that area Flywheel Inpection Plate

Agree - you should have that plate to protect the flywheel from road dirt, etc. as the gap is forward facing.

The Series 1 Roadster has a forward facing hole in the bellhousing which also needs a cover.
Later versions are probably the same.

Thanks gents. I remember worrying about that hole in my roadster Dave. Owen, thanks for the link but the hole is not that shape at all on my 2l. Big Les, if you look under the bonnet from drivers side, can you see your flywheel? The bell housing looks too big for the engine, as it were, on mine. Nick

Later versions are probably the same. Not on the 3.7l ones Dave. Not sure about the other 3l units.

Nick, I have looked under the RHS bonnet on our 4/4 Twin Cam (Fiat engine), you cannot see the flywheel. There is a large pressed steel plate sandwiched between the engine and gearbox, guess this is missing on your +4.

Nick, The two flywheel covers are illustrated on page 55 of the Autobooks Fiat 132 workshop manual or page 99 of the Haynes Fiat 132 & Argenta manual & page 65 of the Autobooks Fiat 125 manual, depending which Fiat manual you have to hand.
