I have not read all this post but did you know that Tesla will launch an all-new electric hatchback in 2023 that’ll cost from just £18,000 and could have more than 180 miles of range.

Well that will certainly sell well at that pricing and with 2 further years of battery development might improve on the range too.

I was playing with cars today on a track - this Porsche EV was fun to drive.... very quick in sports mode.

An Atalanta or Suffolk SS100 are likely to be decent buys in the long term. Maybe the Bugatti replicas.

The Carice is nice, a bit like Porsche 356 a bit like lightweight french roadsters, Panhard etc..

WEV has a similar concept, but I like the Carice better.

What about a classic or kit car that can be readily converted to an EV when the time comes? Not as an investment, just something that could still be driven for fun if such an idea is still possible legally or socially? Already seen folk doing homebrewed MG Midget conversions so an EV Sebring Sprite replica could be possible. Or a Porsche 356 coupe or speedster replica.

Mk1 MX5 prices seem to have have stopped dropping - quite fancy buying the first incarnation of a great idea. Funnily people were scrapping them due to rusty sills - which as an Austin Healey Sprite MkII owner and former owner old Minis and Series Landrovers I find odd. Not sure how long we will be able to buy MIG gas for hobby use?

Smart Roadster?

Cheers
Mike

There was a interessting word from Jay Leno in the (British) Octane: he has a lot of cars, one day he asks his kids which car you want if you chose? The answer: the Prius. He was surprised and asks why. The kids answer: it‘s electric and it‘s IPhone compatible.

My own daughter gets a 1991 classic Mini as a present for her birthday. It was nice for the city and around, but she don‘t like it on the motorway in the Rhein-Main area. For longer journeys: to loud, to slow, not safe.

A neighbor spends a lot of money for a professional Restauration of the family Triumph Vitesse convertible 1.6litre.
Now there only a few steps he gets it back: but both daughters show no interest, the grandchildren (6 and 10years old) like
some joyrides with granddad. But all the older girls: ooohhh… no seatbelts…

So in summary: enjoy the car yourself.

Trad Morgans have always held their money but must surely be a car to collect now.

Prices of Trads have always had the upper price limit of buying a brand new Trad but now they are no longer made they are instant classics for the following reasons+-

1/ The new Plus Four are also a massive jump in price form most Trads.

2/ Whilst the CX cars may drive more like a modern sports car, in the next 10 years, the back to basics no driver aids driving experience of Trads will be a marked contrast to peoples everyday fully automatic electric car complete with the sanitised driving experience.
