The BRB's help support the cross frame, in this case the upper suspension arm so it makes plain engineering sense to have that support as close as possible and in best contact with the frame. The exception is the upper shock absorber bracket which is broad and of substantial thickness to support shock loads and provide wing support, so also needs to be close to the action.

All the pictures I've seen have not had the tyre rubbing blocks fitted. My '74 4/4 does have these and they make the fitting of the Williams supplied BRBs significantly more difficult. The bottom fixing almost fits with the forward mounting bolt of the blocks but I had to move this inboard (re-drilling block and chassis) to avoid the tyre rubbing on the BRB. The rear mounting bolt of the damper retainer also causes a bit of grief. Both fitted now but work needed on both sides.
