Been out all morning clearing trees off the road. Thankfully no serious property damage or injuries in our neighborhood but isn't the power of mother nature awesome?

One roadside tree down opposite us & more worrying was the sound of expensive Welsh slate siding down the roof at midnight, there's still too much snow lying on the roof to even check it

Stuck in Newcastle until tomorrow night as the plane home couldn't land in Aberdeen (and Eastern Airways don't fly on a saturday, go figure!) ... will know for sure when I get back but my pal walked round and reports all the lead ridge off my roof and sent a pic of loads of trees down (upwards of 50 in a big tangled heap from the look of it!)..... house looks straight out to the sea with the Arctic Circle the next stop so it gets a tad breezy .... don't fancy my chances getting a roofer in the NE to attend in the next month, so I reckon the roof ladder and chainsaws are going to earn their keep in the near future unless I'm very lucky 🙂

I’ve been whizzing around all day Keith, anything that could make power has been put to work. I went to Bonnykelly with the last genny this afternoon, and had to go through Strichen, trees are down all over the place and several roads were blocked. I do hope your property is safe, it’s a shame you’re away when you could be sitting pretty with your “off grid” power supply designed for just such an occasion!
Sorry to learn of your devastation as well Gordon, very few injuries in our whole area so something to be thankful for.

Can imagine you've been a very popular man today! 🙂

Yep, house will be happily whirring away to itself .... wifi running and lights just waiting to be switched on .... have my two gennies in the shed just sat too .... offered my pals over the moss the use of the house as their leccy went off Friday evening and won't be back on til Monday at the earliest .... they have no open fires and electric underfloor heating so they're not just missing their lights .... they have a gas cooker (bottled gas) and emergency oil lamps so are happy living in the kitchen for the duration .... that's what being young does for you! 🙂 ... they only lost 20 trees so are considering themselves lucky.

There was one lad killed sadly over by Fintray ... tree fell on his pickup .... police parked back up the road a bit while they dealt with the scene and got back to find their van squashed flat under another tree .... lucky they weren't in it.

We haven't had a blow like this for quite a few years now.

Sorry to see and read of all the devastation up there.
We got away reasonably lightly in comparison, though there have been a few road blocks due to trees.
Good luck with getting things cleared away.
