The ARP-4 is a fair bit more than a Supersport and Works 110. £60k plus.

I concede it's much more of a "focused" machine for intensive road and track work but I'm not really digging the interior with the alloy trim etc.

It's a shame there's no white Supersport's about. Only red and blue machines which I'm not really wanting!

Do like the 110 Works even though it's not a particularly "performance" leaning machine. Just a remap and mildly uprated exhaust. Alas it would seem that by 2020 the factory couldn't faff about with the GDI induction as the set up is very intricate for emissions purposes.

Also a SS and ARP are getting to be some years old. The 110 is effectively new with 700 miles.

Decisions decisions!!

Comparing apples and pears here.
If you want performance then go for the Supersports/ARP but If you want something that still looks good and is arguably better value, then the Works model fits the bill. Looking back at your original post, I think you are answering your own questions, though it now seems clear that throttle bodies as a retrofit are out of the question. Test drives will provide the only convincing answer.

You are correct. I do like the SS however they are getting a bit old now. I am aware that they are the best driving Trad.

There are about 5 SS's on the market all for the same sort of money. The Works has (to me) a gorgeous interior and I also like the exterior treatment. The ARP style wheels, louvered spare wheel cover and matt black trim make it look quite modern yet obviously classic as only a Trad can be. The ARP is simply too highly strung for my requirements. I'm not into revving a motor to 9 grand. I prefer torque. The only thing I would miss on the Works is the throttle bodies. They would provide that great induction roar. Even more annoying is the bonnet has the scoop for the filter! The Works was a punchy £65k new. However a new Plus Four which I have no interest in being a luddite is now up to 85 grand with lots of goodies.

Come to think of it aren't all Morgan drivers quasi luddites anyway? If they weren't they might have an Alfa 4C, Cayman or Alpine A110 in their garage! A 2020 Trad is pretty much the end of the line of the original ladder frame DNA going back nigh on a century.

On that basis a Works is a special car. ..

Just been down to Williams. They have a Supersport, ARP4 and a Duratec with throttle bodies in stock. I wouldn’t write off the GDI- my Club Sport is as quick as my Roadster Lightweight was up to 70 mph.. . You can have a GDI remapped to Club Sport spec (180 bhp) or there is a map that Zenos used for the same engine with 200 bhp…..

In the usual way throttlebodies give an engine more power at higher revs. Also the torque is more at a higher point and more concentrated at a peak.

So if you‘re more on the torqueside and cruising, a testdrive would give you the answer. A „flashed“ GDI is a nice thing on twisty roads,
you can keep it very fast in the same gear only riding on the wave of torque.
