Assuming you do not have five directional tyres ! For some reason the previous owner of my car fitted Toyo Proxes T1-R’s which are dedicated "left" or "right" (uni-directional). The spare is omni-directional, so is fine for that purpose, but not to truly rotate them around. When I next buy tyres, omni-directional is what I'll be going for, so that I can indeed rotate them.

Of course I could be tempting fate with this but as my Roadster is the Sport variant, I decided to try Bike Seal"s puncture preventive system. There is always the chance of a gash to the tyre wall but it seems to be an option worth considering. I'm pretty sure others here use it.

I'm interested in this.
Has anyone here ever used goo successfully?
Does anyone know anyone who has been a happy user?

Re puncture preventer..same questions plus, how would you know at any moment in time that one of your tyres isn't full of holes that have been sealed? Surely the tyre would be getting increasingly dangerous?

I haven't heard of that before, except perhaps for auto transmissions.

I think this applies to most modern gearboxes with RWD. I can't honestly remember if the same Cautionary note was in my 4/4 Sport or not now.

I was aware of the Auto transmissions also as I had a Borg Warner 3 speed in my Scimitar GTE, but never needed recovering but had a similar warning in the handbook.

I carry goo as a last resort if I get caught somewhere dark, wet or dangerous. I don't see it as a permanent fix. I would get the tyre changed as soon as possible after.

Changing a wheel on an active road is exceptionally dangerous anyway. Just hope you never have to even consider it.

Well, we learn something every day. Thinking of 2011 Morgans onwards, I googled a copy of the handbook for a Mazda MX5 and there it advises that the back wheels should be off the ground. They also say that in an emergency, it would be permissible to tow a short distance at a slow speed with the rear wheels revolving. So thanks for that one Richard as I am sure I was not alone in realising the issue.

Doug, that being the case there really should be a cautionary note in your cars handbook, mine was close to the propshaft lubrication but a lot different layout to the modern handbook that I got with the 2009 Sport.

195 fronts, 205 rears and 165 spare (nothing bigger fits in the space) - not much chance of rotation

I've got the goo in my bikes - at the very least as a safety measure which will slow the deflation of a tyre.

I tend to drill a hole in the tyre with a core saw and flush it out when I need a tyre change.
